@FragRed "I'm definitely feeling this system is talking to a lot of retro fans out there. Make no mistake, Bomberman and Street Fighter II is definitely deliberately aiming at lapsed Nintendo fans and those who've perhaps "grown out" of gaming but still have fond memories of early 90s Nintendo. "
That's the feeling I was getting too.Reading Bomberman,SF2 and Puyo Puyo Tetris were coming had me more excited than say if Watchdogs 2,Dishonoured and COD were announced as coming.I hope we see much more classics brought like that. Then there is the added online play to NES & SNES games that makes it even more like they are talking it to those fans.Maybe we'll see online modes being added to Megadrive,Neo Geo and Arcade games too.
@Grumblevolcano They really should have just had Alex talk and have no one else on set. He feels more natural to listen and watch than the official Nintendo presenter.

@FragRed Yea, it's so all over the place. Different news outlets have ENTIRELY different reactions. IGN's Nintendo Voice chat people were insanely excited and positive after the event, Kotaku seems middle of the road, and then other places (like Eurogamer) are more negative.
And then, when you read articles where news staffs or analysts give their predictions on how the system will sell, it's usually about 50/50.
So... the takeaway, I think, is that this thing is totally up in the air. The Switch will live or die on its first couple months, and it can really go either way. We know for a fact that there ARE more launch window game announcements coming, so let's hope we hear some cool stuff over the next 6 weeks.
Were you in the morning or afternoon batch Buizel?
I was in the morning batch. I didn't really stay long however, as it was getting a bit crowded, and I was already sold on the machine after 2 or 3 games!
@rallydefault I'm not sure it's the first 2 months that will see if it lives or dies. I think that is too soon. I mean the Xbox One had a horrific start but Phil Spencer upon taking the reigns managed to turn the whole thing around. I believe it will be E3 that shows us whether this thing has any life in it. Nintendo needs to really impress with a huge line up of games - and I don't mean just late 2017 into early 2018. I mean beyond that.
@Grumblevolcano Yeah I just watched the Digital Foundry take on the Switch and wow are they negative with the odd exception here and there. But jump over to say a YouTube channel like Outside Xtra and there is more positive things being said. Nintendo really has to pump out the adverts for this all the way up to release and beyond much more than they did with Wii U and 3DS.

I'm curious to know if anyone has compiled a list of rumours from supposedly reputable sources prior to the event, just to see how many have been confirmed, yet to be confirmed, or contradicted with the presentation and events. Just out of personal interest!
It's interesting that a week ago we believed Mario to be a launch title, and that Zelda wouldn't be released until later in the year.
Edit: A couple of things in this list seem to have been proven wrong.
I've been thinking about the live event, and I still don't know why they had that section with Suda51, Sega and EA. What was the point of that? Especially when Ubisoft is bringing at least three titles to the Switch. For all the bad talk that they're getting, they often bring the best support to Nintendo consoles. They could've had a Ubi rep on stage talking about how they're bringing Just Dance 2017 to the Switch at launch, then how they're bringing Steep to the Switch later this year and a ''by the way, Rayman Legends is also coming to the eShop.'' That would've had way more substance and impact than three people saying ''Switch looks good, we're considering developing games for it.''
Honestly i think Eurogamer being arsey is logical. Ya leak all tht confidential stuff your ass is on the line. Didnt do em much good.
Seeing IGN being positive after that podcast is weird. Some tech reviewers (no prizes for who) are on the offensive with doom, as are the usual negative folks, while everyone who has played it? Think its great.
A lot of game playing youtubers seem haply. Not sure about the buggest of the lot though. Jim Sterling seems meh at best, Yahtzee will hate it lets be honest its how he rolls, and I aint listening to lord biscuit on his high horse for 40 minutes.

Yeah, it does make me wonder if Ninty have only just started sending out dev kits and informing others about it only a few months ago which would explain the thin support and why 3rd party games seem to be taking awhile to come.
The pointless sections with Sega and Suda 51 are perhaps telling of how desperate the 3rd party situation really is.It could be facing a real uphill battle to recover from this initial reaction.
It's really not all that bad. The presentation was just poorly handled. Several developers confirmed titles in development after the presentation from Ubisoft to Bandai-Namco
Currently Playing: Steamworld Heist, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Tales of Graces F

Yes, but this is exactly what scares me, because this is EXACTLY the story of the Wii U.
The people who never played it and were only judging it based on internet doom HATED it, while those who actually played the thing ENJOYED it.
So, yea - to me, that's a scary pattern to get back into.
I think you do need the app to play online with friends. One interview I saw, stated your friends list is on the app.
The chart about the online service said you can register and manage friends without the subscription, though. Wouldn't that be kind of a slap in the face to people who can add friends but can't play with them because they don't have a phone? Not sure how that would go over with little kids and such.
@KirbyTheVampire I don't know about other parts of the world, but where I am in England, every child I see has has a phone, and I don't mean a cheap one either. And in Japan I imagine it's the same which is why Nintendo chose to have it done via a phone app.

I really hope we hear of the virtual console soon. I know that for me personally, a lacklustre launch lineup would be entirely mitigated by a decent selection of VC titles. If I can play Mario Sunshine on the go I'll happily wait til Christmas for Odyssey.
With the news of lack of analogue triggers, unfortunately I don't suspect we'll see a gamecube virtual console announcement. At least, not now. It's possible they're release compatible joycons or controllers later on for just that. I hope so, at least.
