If we get Monster Hunter in Smash, I’ll be satisfied.
And I’m not a big Smash fanatic. In fact, not once have I really cared all that much who the next character is. But I care now. We NEED the Monster Hunter...
We need the Hunter for the Hunter amiibo. Forget the game. I mean, I’ll play him. It would actually make me play Smash again, which no other character has done for me. But I really want that amiibo. All 3 of the Rise amiibo are great, but none are the hunter. All I want is one single Amiibo of a hunter decked head to toe in full armor set.

It would also explain the delay in announcing the MH Rise Edition Switch. Yah? It totally would! I can see it now. Hunter for Smash, followed by a new MH Rise trailer, a new 2nd demo announcement for early March, and the MH Rise edition console and pro controller. Exclusive to GameStop, of course 😉

In our post-truth world, where news outlets seem to focus on the negatives rather than the positives, I’ve shied away from traditional media. The coronavirus has only managed to highlight the shortcomings of the average human, because in the face of overwhelmingly powerful factual evidence, some people still find excuses to avoid taking the necessary steps to protect those around them.
In Florida one person declared at a council meeting that they wouldn’t be able to play their trumpet because of a mask. Another stated that their “God-given gift” of lungs had been wasted because of masks. That the former US President, objectively one of the most powerful and influential people in the world, refused to wear a mask until hundreds of thousands of Americans had died, tells me a lot about the human race.
I’ve watched the news for years, but only now do I realise how pessimistic it is. Rarely does the news tell us something motivating over a demoralising statistic. And with everything going on why would we need it, when we already spend hours doomscrolling our way through negative media after negative media?
In September I was in Bristol, and every day when I walked into the city I saw university students socialising, and interacting without any kind of protection. All of a sudden I find it difficult to blame the government for just how many people a day get infected by these irresponsible youth, not to mention how many D-list Love Island celebrities go off to the Maldives, breaking all kinds of lockdown rules. In other countries, where the restrictions are rightly tighter, most people would wear masks without question.
@TheJGG That ignores how the UK government have been consistently inconsistent with their message to the masses. Like saying you shouldn't go out but then pays for people meals if you do eat out, schools are completely safe only for them to say literally the next day it's not, you should not be travelling around the country during lockdown but government officials are doing so without consequence after being caught etc.

@JaxonH I think at the least MH Rise will get a sizable spotlight in the Direct and that's where the special edition console and pro controller get announced for NA.

The remaining time is given to third party announcements, a smallish Nintendo game and a one more thing for the big holiday title.
I’m unsure if Zelda anniversary will be done in the Direct. With Mario still celebrating his, and Pokemon next week I think Nintendo will wait till second half of the year and release a collection and one or two other games - either ports or new titles - and celebrate the same way they did with Mario.

@BenAV I’m keeping my expectations low. I don’t think Nintendo are doing a 50 minute presentation because they’ve got so much to showcase for the first half. If anything I think it’s because they are pushing both Monster Hunter Rise and Bravely Default 2 as their big first half games. Smash reveal is always a big event and Nintendo have happily done big segments for character reveals before. I’m just thinking we shouldn’t go into this with high hopes but hope for the surprises.
