It's exchange day. Taking a few things to my local video game store.

Got my eye on some stuff. Star Overdrive? Atelier Lumia? Sanabi?

Should be interesting.

Edit: Much to my disappointment, none of the previously mentioned games were available. Settled for Pikmin 1+2 and The Legend of Legacy. TLoL might be an average rpg, but Masashi Hamauzu's score is the highlight. FFXIII is my favorite of his work.

Hi, I've got a quick question. I'm sure this is a yes to what I'm about to ask, but I thought I'd confirm with you folks anyway. After starting the NSO classic game apps, can you play them in airplane mode? I'm asking because I'm gonna take a plane trip next month. Thanks!

Yes with an important caveat. Nintendo needs to periodically check that your NSO account is valid and still connected to the same Switch. You can use an app for one week with no Internet after using it once with internet.

This is mentioned in the faq near the bottom of this page:

@FishyS All right, thank you. I do remember that tidbit where after connecting, you can play the NSO apps offline for one week. Thanks for the link as well - I think I'll boot up the apps like a day before my trip, so I'll be able to play SNES games in the plane for example. It's nice they're letting us do that, honestly, even with that weekly verification. Thanks once again, you have a good one.

@rallydefault Now they just have to apply it to the Eshop!

@MarioVillager92
It doesn’t work like that. There is only one specific time it checks. Mine was on Saturday evenings when I was away from WiFi even though I checked on it while I was on WiFi earlier in the day. So unless it decides to perform a check you’d be out of luck.

Think I'll move XCX down the depth chart a bit. The game's world building is great, but it's mislabeling of recommended levels for missions is a tad off-putting. I feel I'm ready to get back to some swashbuckling in Ys X. I bounced off it at launch because I wasn't getting the same vibes I got from VIII or IX.

The end of this week feels like the calm before the storm for me. Next week...

Raidou Remastered, The Thing Remastered, Against the Storm, and Soul Reaver 1+2 physical releases.

And then not much until September.

Thought about ordering a copy of Exit 8.

But considering RNJesus-blessed runs can be completed in under a couple minutes, I decided to pass.

Now that I'm done with Xenoblade: DE (barring the standalone extra game), I'm going to enjoy the next few months of not playing 100 hour video games before I get to Xenoblade 3. Playing both Megaman Zero 3 and Klonoa where I can make significant progress for both in about an hour or so is a joy to experience. It's so refreshing.

I have so many games that aren't long to play on Switch right now and I could not be happier.

I'm nearing the end of my No Man's Sky permadeath playthrough. Probably going to go back to Dredge after that. I feel I'm more than halfway through it as well. Question is, what next? I think it might finally be time for Bayonetta 3.

Maybe.

Perhaps I should plug into one of those randomizers like YTuber Sean Seanson does, lol.

Spun the wheel, looks like Trine is the next game I'll play.

It was kind of funny to see my laptop browser struggle when I loaded all 1,473 Switch games into the wheel, lol.

@Magician You have 1473 Switch games?? And I thought I had too many games. I have mine in a spreadsheet so I suppose I could make a wheel too...

Also, Trine is a fun game. I still haven't played the sequels though.

@Magician, you spin a wheel to decide what game you play next? That actually sounds interesting! Is it a digital wheel? If so, is it an app or something? Also, I currently have slightly over 20 Switch games, which is more than any other member of my family, though it certainly can't compare to your collection! 😂

Finished Xenoblade Chronicles X and Dredge over the weekend. It's interesting how the Switch release of XCX has added content. A 13th chapter making the connection to Xenosaga. Makes me wonder if Monolith Soft are quietly petitioning for Bamco to re-release those? Especially considering how Bamco have been remastering several of their PS1 and PS2 games over this generation of consoles.

Dredge was very good. But the constant damage your ship can take from the slightest tap against the environment, knocks the enjoyment down a peg. Degradation is one of those gaming sins I have very little tolerance for.

Probably a few or several hundred more than that. That's just the number of cartridges I have. It doesn't include compilation releases with multiple games on them. And it doesn't include my digital purchases.

I have a link to the webpage with the randomizer a few posts up. Post # 69,811.

I think I'm ready to take a break from No Man's Sky, but I'm not done with the survival / crafting genre.

Yesterday I began playing Dysmantle. A very basic but nice zombie game.

Because I have two SD cards and I don't want to buy a 3rd, I feel like I've quickly reached the end of games to download. And some of the rest will be for Mina when that comes out. Which outside of a couple of upcoming games, means the only retail games I really need outside of a couple of upcoming ones are Mario Wonder, Xenoblade 3 and the new Super Monkey Ball. (though there's a few others I'd consider too, especially if I find them cheap enough)

Greater than zero chance I delete DBFighterz, since I never played it and got it as a pretty cheap deal. Or maybe Saints Row 4 if I ever get around to playing through it first, also got that cheap and on a whim.

Either way I already own most of the Switch 1 games I'll play for at least the next few years, even long after Switch 2 whenever it becomes my primary console. Switch 1 backlog alone will already take up a long time, so I guess that's fine.

Getting back to DDLC.

I can understand why it's a beloved VN, it's a great subversion on the genre.
