@Haru17: Is that unusual? Or am I not getting the joke?
NES - Gray
SNES - Gray
N64 - Black with gray controllers, cartridges, and bright primary-colored buttons.
Gamecube - Purple
Wii - White
Wii U - White
Switch - Black
Nintendo has basically never released a console that defaulted to glossy black like the original Xbox, Xbox One, PS2, 3, or 4. It's visual signaling.
So TheGamingBrit just put out a video, as has Cinnemassacre.
CM was more....alright...ish to it, while glossing over a lot of things announced, and saying the third parties don't matter so that...helps.
TGB though...likes cartridges because "faster load times...maybe?" and thinks it's just another gimmick. On the fence at best. Comments already labelling it a failure and anyone excited about this "Next gen console is a insert derogatory term here"
That took less than 12 hours and the meh-sucks train is already going. I'm gonna need anti-depressants again. At least I'm happy enough to say I'll work on stuff for it!
...It's really hard being optimistic about Nintendo in this world. Dreading uni tomorrow.

Are you really only watching the people that doesnt like it ?
It seems to me because ive seen a lot of praise overall, and the hype has been way higher.
Im not sure if you actually like it honestly, it seems to me you dont and you are searching for some kind of help to make it feel like you are not wrong by not liking it, idk those are my 2 cents.
I just wanna warn everyone, though. I'm no pessimist, but I can tell you right now that there is going to be at least one major drawback to this device, probably two. Whether it's battery life, price, storage, performance, uncomfortable controllers, or a generally clunky design oversight, this thing is bound to have some catch. For starters, there's no way this thing is powerful enough to compete with Xbox One/PS4 successors, let alone the consoles themselves.
Don't get me wrong, I'm saying this as an optomist. I'm stoked about this and can't wait to get my hands on it. The convenience of the portable features and the wealth of third party support has already sold me. I'm just being realistic, and I'm concerned that the slightest mention of poor performance from this thing is going to turn away a lot of people.
Nothing's perfect. While Battery life has me worried, I'm just as worried that the sliding controller parts will break or wear down easily.
@Haru17: Plus, the Wii U Deluxe was available at launch, so I'd say that the Wii U is both black and white. The 3DS also had a black version at launch.
EDIT: A lot of the promotional art and showcases for the Wii U were the black model too. Probably because it was so obviously the better version.
@BLPs Yeaah, don't let the Negative Nellies get the best of you.
There's always gonna be people filled with doubt and bickering. And people are wary for a good reason because the Wii U didn't perform on par.
But the power-game is really boring and calling the Switch a failure simply because it won't deliver PS4 Pro level graphics is simply foolish.
The Switch video is currently the 6th most viewed video on Nintendo's official channel. And rising fast. It's currently just barely behind the New SMB 2 trailer (which it'll overtake probably on the next refresh). But the other videos ahead of it are the Splatoon Direct, Smash Bros Amiibo, 2DS and the Zelda BotW trailer. It is now above the Splatoon trailer, NWC 2015, Smash Bros Direct and the New SMB U trailer.
I reckon by the end of the week it'll either be the #1 or #2 video on their channel. Not surprising. It would basically makes it the most impact thing Nintendo have done on the internet since they started their channel with the 3DS.
Faster load times are a must, and it makes it an obvious choice considering its portability, it makes changing games also that much easier when on the road.
Honestly, people that "hate" on cartridges have probably quite the low IQ, for once, there are 64gb ssd that are incredibly cheap so space (as it was the problem with the N64) is not a problem anymore, and it makes totally sense, theres a portability option there are you going to force people to bring their full size blu rays to change games ? wut ?
idk, a lot of the "hate" ive read is incredibly dumb.
The other one the whole "ooh, the portable part is just a gimmick", no is not, its not a gimmick because its not forced to the console at all, you could literally put it in the dock and call it a day, its completely different than what the Wii and WiiU were, which you bought onto the gimmick, that gimmick was part of the experience, this one is completely optional
gimmick as in "different" kind of stuff compared to the standard
@Faruko I've seen Jim Sterling heap praise onto it, Boogie2988 just heaped praise onto it.
Here's the thing though, and it's as Philip DeFranco says too. Negativity spreads faster. It sells. That's a problem with the world. So when I see a video by someone like Jim Sterling or Boogie...that's really, really damn encouraging.
To find the people who like the thing, and report on their feedback, is probably a good thing in experience, as opposed to taking what can often just be blind hate as feedback. The catch is what gets more views, what pops up first. Gotta wade through the stuff to get to the good stuff sadly.
Up until about...2 hours ago or so, its been great, but now the nitpickers are out, the ones who seem to have nothing nice to say at all, and they will most likely be heard more, which is an issue Nintendo will have to overcome.
Do I think it's perfect? Nope, I do have some questions that will be answered in due time, which is something the more negative crowd aren't really grasping as a concept I might add. I wanna know storage, game card storage, RAM and price. Only one of those effects my decision to buy it, the others just allow me to be more precise with developing that game I have committed to the system, not that its taxing.
And if I do accentuate the negative, terribly sorry. Depression and anxiety are one dangerous combination of illnesses, and this is mainly my anxiety for my lectures tomorrow in my oh so Nintendo-friendly classes. But as I said above, they aren't getting any info out of me.

@Faruko Then what's the point of buying if you don't care about the gimmick? Games. I love the Switch's home/handheld feature, but so far Nintendo's lineup in the trailer hasn't impressed me (yet_. (Only 1 game is new, the Super Mario game, and I already have a ton of Mario games.) And as I don't buy many third-party games, only a strong first-party lineup in the first year made of NEW, ORIGINAL games, will convince me to buy.
Negativity gets to me, its how my head is hard wired. Hearing you and @Inkling mention you'd LIKE my game was...the first time anyone public has said that. Really. And that meant a lot to me, should've said at the time. That encouragement isn't at uni...which leads me to..
I absolutely despise the way they teach. I learned how to use Unity and UE4, CryENGINE killed my laptop. I'll say this: One my modules (Classes) is on Level Design. That's it name. Level Design. Marked on graphics, narrative integration and progression, structure, object placement, animations, use of gameplay. In that order.Id put gameplay higher up that list, definitely above animation and particles.
Regarding gimmicks outside of the Joy-Cons (Which even make a proper controller anyway), and the focus on a Pro Controller.....is there a gimmick? Thinking about it this is very blunt.

@LegendOfPokemon Because its a new Nintendo console ? with better specs than the WiiU ? With newer games, exclusives AND multiplats ? the "gimmick" is a nice extra feature that ill probably use quite a bit, but is not forced, is not like "if you dont use it, why are you even buying it?"
Idk, your point is kinda weird considering if you need a gimmick to buy something, why people even bought a PS4 or XB1 to begin with ? both are essentially glorified Ps3 and XB360 but those glorified new version of old gen are pretty much your only way unto the next generation, the Switch is more or less the same
This is not a WiiU sequel in the sense the Wii was to the GC (slightly better hardware) this is quite the jump.
