Looking at Wikipedia, XSX has platform exclusivity for Yakuza Like A Dragon for six months, that's about it over there. (If you enjoy jrpgs don't sleep on Like A Dragon.) While PS5 has...Godfall, Destruction All-Stars, and Demon Souls. I believe everything else in the PS5 launch lineup can be played on PS4.
I didn't say it was false. Logistically, the Switch is going to sell twice as many consoles as either XSX or PS5 between now and March. So if someone predicts that the Switch is going to outsell the XSX or PS5 this Holiday, my response is..."well, naturally. No duh, of course it will." In other news, fire is hot and water is wet.
Eh, I wouldn't say "no reason". There'll be that small percentage of core gamers who'll be eager to upgrade for the bump in resolution and load times the PS5 offers. I'm one of those folk who never bothered with a PS4 Pro, I've been using my launch PS4 for the past seven years.
Switch Physical Collection - 1,536 games (as of December 14th, 2025)
Switch 2 Physical Collection - 4 games (as of December 8th, 2025)
@Magician I literally only bought a launch model PS4 when Kingdom Hearts III launched, which should show where I stand on that matter. But I should say there's no reason for anyone who's still questioning whether to get one or not to get one.
For me it's mostly frame rate and load times (more so frame rate). Game performance on OG XB1 is rough for a lot of 2018-2020 games so upgrading to Series X will be nice, that said stock is extremely low so I imagine I wouldn't be able to get it until at least around March of which Nintendo will probably have made their move by then with a new Switch model.
Ya it just depends on the person and their priorities. Faster loading is nice- of course, that's something PC gamers have had for years. I have 10 TB of SSD on my PC, and Idk how people are gonna manage with 600 something GB. Even paying the extra $230 for a 1 TB expansion, usable space will be like 1.5 TB.
Most games are cross gen, and the Spiderman game is a cross gen expansion that's shorter than a full game. Not that it wont be great, but ya. Guess theres Demon Souls, but it's a PS3 game that still looks good on PS3 or emulation on PC. My brother is a Souls fanatic and even he's in no rush to buy a system for it. Plus they accidentally revealed it's coming to PC later. Godfall and Yakuza are timed exclusives that will be multiplat and on PC as well (not that I'm particularly interested in either)
So... ya. The one thing that would make me buy a system is an exclusive Monster Hunter. But turns out the exclusive MH is coming to Switch. And the next MH will likely be multiplat on PC again.
So there really isnt much reason to buy a system yet. Just like there wasnt much reason to buy Wii U until Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101 and Mario 3D World. Switch is the only system I can recall that was actually worth it out the gate, due to exclusive hybrid Zelda BotW, Splatoon 2, hybrid Mario Kart 8 with battle mode, ARMS, etc.
But I bought Wii U and 3DS and PS4 day one anyways because... I was looking at it long term. I could do the same for PS5, the difference this time is, most PS exclusives are now coming to PC or Switch, and I cant stomach playing games with non-gyro aiming which only PC/Switch offer. So even the games that dont leave the platform arent really desirable to me anymore having tasted the sweet nectar of gyro aiming. Which means the long term outlook has changed for me. But for a non PC gamer, that will likely be a different story.

Yakuza: LIke a Dragon releases in the rest of the World for PC, PS4, XB1 & Series S/X on the 10th .... It's only the specific PS5 version that's oddly next year I'm looking forward to Demon's Souls Remastered on my PC, since I never played it before. All the 1st parties' stuff for XBox will be on PC as well & obviously the majority of 3rd party games
There's some question for me about a few games that say they'll be EGS exclusive on PC but if those do stay that way, I won't get them!
Demon's Souls on PC would be sick but honestly I can't see that happening for years. The game is pretty much the PS5's killer app right now next to Spider-Man for the launch lineup so they're probably going to keep it as close to possible to PlayStation for maybe 4 or even 5 years at least, especially given it's the one Souls-related thing Sony has complete control over

@JaxonH I'd say the only systems I recall that were worth it out of the gate were Switch, and N64 (Mario 64, Cruis'n, Killer Instinct Gold, Mario Kart 64, Shadows of the Empire, Wave Race etc, the system had a strong launch year)
EDIT: @TheFrenchiestFry Somehow, I think they'll shoot themselves in the foot in the pursuit of more money and announce it as soon as the new Horizon is out late next year, and they have that to rely on (which yes, is a crossgen title).
EDIT 2: Okay, how have I never heard of this game? This looks incredibly well done. Anyone know anything?
@Marbio_King_YT maybe Nintendo will add Impa or that mysterious character that apeared in the end of the most recent Hyrule Warriors:Age of Calamity trailer.
@JaxonH don't worry about that 1/2 years after the release of Monster Hunter Rise, Capcom is gonna release Monster Hunter Rise in all plataforms or develop a exclusive Mostre Hunter game for all plataforms, is quite obvious that Monster Hunter Rise is gonna be a timed exclusive to Switch, after all Capcom don't want to waste they money in a console that his best selling games are dominated by Nintendo games, if i was Capcom i would cancel Monster Hunter Rise and release istead in all consoles.
@Giancarlothomaz Highly unlikely. I figure Rise is probably a permanent Switch exclusive to make up for the fact that Switch missed out on Monster Hunter World. Considering outside of World the last few games including Tri, 3, 4, their Ultimate versions, Generations and Stories have all been Nintendo exclusive Rise will definitely follow suit in that regard. It's not even being made on the full fat RE Engine but one specifically designed for Switch hardware.
Monster Hunter is probably going to be treated by Nintendo the same way it was by Sony when the games were PS2/PSP exclusive prior to 2010.
@Giancarlothomaz Highly unlikely. Rise appears to have arisen out of a partnership with Nintendo (keep in mind, Capcom literally was able to request changes to the Switch hardware for this game).
It could someday hit other consoles in the distant future, but it's not going to be arriving on PS5/XSX.
@TheFrenchiestFry It doesn't feel believable that Demon's Souls PC was just an error, seems more likely calling it an error was just Sony covering themselves from more backlash over the "we believe in generations" lie.
@link3710 I think Horizon Forbidden West will come earlier than people expect (e.g. Spring 2021) and God of War (2018) sequel ends up being the big Sony console exclusive holiday 2021 title.
@Grumblevolcano I think porting it to PC will happen given how massive the Souls playerbase is on it compared to other consoles but considering it's the one small bit of Souls that Sony completely owns I can't imagine them being willing to port the game immediately. Maybe in like 2 or 3 years like Horizon given bringing the PC version alongside it could definitely take away the cred it has as the PS5's big killer launch title
@Giancarlothomaz
I dont think so. MH Rise will be Switch exclusive forever. They never port their MH games to other platforms beyond what they were designed for. Capcom said they never even considered MH World for Switch because it was designed for power consoles, and likewise, MH Rise will never even be considered for other platforms because it's designed for Switch.
Monster Hunter sells insane numbers on Nintendo platforms. And make no mistake- even though World sold 15 million, that was a one time fluke, AND it was across 3 platforms. The Ultimate version, Iceborn, only did 6 million which is basically in line with the 4-5 mil MHFU, MH4U and MHG sold, except it was on 3 platforms and they were on 1. AND it was mega high budget with marketing up the wazoo, AND it had the advantage of being sold as DLC for a lower price.
MH Rise will likely break records for highest selling MH on a single platform, and will probably even outsell Iceborn despite it releasing on 3 platforms. So it's a good thing you're not Capcom, because youd be making a foolish decision.

@TheFrenchiestFry I think Sony's already lost all credibility about PS5 exclusives actually being PS5 exclusive. Honestly have doubts about Ratchet & Clank, GT7, God of War (2018) sequel, etc. being PS5 exclusive but rather come to PS4 as well.
