I think it's more likely that Sony would go the Xbox route if PS5 wasn't that successful. Merge PS+ and PS Now with PS Now being a proper Game Pass + xCloud competitor rather than the afterthought service it currently is, true exclusives are replaced with console exclusives (i.e. everything releases on PC), mainline Persona comes to Switch, etc.

As for handheld Xbox, don't think so because of xCloud. Seems more likely that Microsoft would put a xCloud app on the Switch and use that to justify Master Chief in Smash to help the Halo franchise return to Halo 3 era popularity.

@DarthNocturnal it has definitely sold less than a million copies otherwise it would have been mention in Ninty’s reports.

@DarthNocturnal Prime 4 was announced before Samus Returns, you had Prime 4 in the Nintendo Spotlight E3 2017 and then Samus Returns was the second Treehouse segment after the spotlight ended.

Last I heard it had done about 600k. Which is abysmal, however, taken in context of every other post-Switch-release 3DS game, I think it FAR surpassed everything else releasing on 3DS in that time frame.

@JaxonH Ultra Sun/Moon was definitely the most successful 3DS game post-Switch launch.

Perhaps, but Pokemon is a bit of an exception I'd say (and even then it sold far less than Sun Moon). I'm talking about WarioWare Gold, Luigi's Mansion, Mario & Luigi, Metroid Samus Returns, Persona Q2, etc.

Contextually speaking, Metroid Samus Returns seems to have, at the very least, outperformed its contemporaries.

@JaxonH "third versions" (i.e. Yellow, Crystal, Emerald, Platinum, Ultra Sun/Moon) always sell far less than their respective original (i.e. Red/Blue, Gold/Silver, Ruby/Sapphire, Diamond/Pearl, Sun/Moon), honestly it'll be interesting to see whether Sword/Shield expansion pass does well enough for Game Freak to do DLC for more Pokemon games.

It's really sad how many great 3DS games probably sold terribly in those last few years of the system's life.

I understand why Nintendo didn't go all in on Switch at first, but, in retrospect, it probably would have been better for everyone involved if they had.

@Marbio_King_YT he/she is pointing up the fact that many 3DS games sold very poorly because, this games was released on 2017, the year Switch was released and because of that this 3DS games sufferd very heavily because of that, since everyone was focusing to buy a Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild or a Super Mario Odyssey istead of buying Metroid Samus Return and others games for they 3DS.

I dont think they're picking characters based on how big they are as Nintendo characters. We havent seen Mario characters added. Instead weve seen more niche characters or 3rd party.

And I think that pattern is what they'll continue to follow. Asking me what I want to happen and asking me what I think they'll actually do are two different things. I don't think they're going to add Pokemon.

But hey, I could be wrong.

@jump imcopetent because when Nintendo anounced Metroid Prime 4 back in the E3 2017, they should have choose Retro Studios first to develop the game, istead of giving it development to a unknow developer, forcing them to reboot the development of the game now in the hands of Retro Studios, i saw on VGC that all the peoples that worked on the development of Metroid Prime 3 is still working on Retro Studios, imcopetence yes for not choosing Retro Studios first to develop the game, if Nintendo have done this we could have playing Metroid Prime 4 since fall/Holiday 2019.

Metroid Prime 4 need to be a masterpice like Super Mario Odyssey/Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild and the original Metroid Prime, or all the hiring of professional of the higest calibre seen to indicate would be in vain and the franchise would be in severe danger of not having no more games released like F-Zero.
