@Therad 90% of AAA games don't even have a single player campaign, or they're 100-hour open world games

Many open world games have a main story you can beat fairly fast.

i keep buying interesting indie/3rd party games that go on sale, and then every time instead of playing them i just go back to running around in botw :/ right now i have Fe (not fire emblem, “fe”), the aquatic adventure of the last human, shovel knight, and the red strings club all just sitting. i need to be stopped

@Therad True, but I wouldn't say BOTW is a 10-hour game, just because you can beat it in under 10 hours for example.

I agree, but I am also quite sure some just beat the beasts + calamity ganon and called quits. And that is fine, we can all enjoy games however we want. I usually beat the endgame quite fast, then go back for as long as I don't get bored.

This is one of the strengths of modern gaming, you can chose your own level of commitment.

Ok well I was gonna wait til they announce the Switch Mini but I just found a refurbished Switch for a really cheap price, so I just went and bought it. Finally back in the current Nintendo club! Wooo.

How is FF X’s story? I’ve heard it’s pretty divisive - how does it stacks against VII and XII?

Wouldn't say it's divisive at all really. It's generally well regarded. It's a less complex story than FF7, and a much more character and relationship driven story than FF12.

It's very similar to FF8 in that it's really just about the love story between the 2 main characters, and everything else is kind of just an excuse for that.
I personally happen to think it's the best love story in the series though.

It's dangerous to go alone! Stay at home.

I did something similar when it came to steam sales. They were insane a couple of years ago. But when I realized I had more unplayed games than games I had played, I started to become more picky. It just frustrates me to have games sitting there, better to just buy games and play them when I feel like it. I am doing the same with dlc as well, before I just bought them as soon as they came.

I still haven't bought the botw dlc as an example. If it had been released closer to launch (when I still played it) I would definitely have bought it.

@Therad Or most of the pictures that he posts. Either way people will buy what they want.

Or he could have downloaded them from elsewhere. And I don't think I have seen pictures of every game he mentions.

But I am don't know he we came to talk about him, I was not talking about JaxonH at all. There will always be people that can afford and will buy everything. I am talking generally. It is easy to commit to something on the internet and then just don't do it.

For me, I have become picky. As an example, gridbased turn based combat is my jam. So fire emblem should be day one right?

Not exactly. I have been cautiously optimistic when it comes to fire emblem but I also realize it will need a good chunk of time to go through. Do I have that time now? And if I have the time, is it my best choice? And if I don't have the time, I don't see any reason to buy it. I am not a collector, I am a gamer.

But that is just me. Every one can do what they want with their time and money. But I don't want to hear them whine later how they don't have any money.

There's no point in buying games on sale if you're not going to play them any time soon. It's why, by and large, I've largely started ignoring sales. I already have a backlog, so continuing to add to it is just a waste of money.

Anyway, for me: Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night (Switch port), Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Shantae 5, and Pokemon Shield are sealed in stone.

Also heavily considering Astral Chain, Ni no Kuni, and Dragon Quest XI S.

I was originally going to nab Death Stranding, but I think I'm good with the open world games this year. Besides, it'll drop down to $30 within half a year of release anyway.

Currently Playing: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (NS2); Corpse Factory (PC)

The saying "vote with your wallet" comes to mind. The upcoming release of The Witcher III is an excellent example. I played and finished the game on PS4, but I loved the game enough to double-dip on the Switch version in show of support for CD Projekt Red and their decision to port the game to Switch, and their use of a 32GB game cartridge. I may not play the game for years and that's fine.

I'd like to do this for every physical release day one on Switch, but it's just not feasible.

Of all the July games I listed I plan on buying WILL: A Wonderful World, Psyvariar Delta, and Dragon Quest Builders 2 day one. Every else will have to wait.

Switch Physical Collection - 1,536 games (as of December 14th, 2025)
Switch 2 Physical Collection - 4 games (as of December 8th, 2025)

Yeah, I'll try to get physical releases 1st, to play & trade-in mostly.... Digital games can wait for when I get around to them or sales

I'm at least trying to finish secret of mana before i go and get bloodstained possibly sometime next week. I think with mm2, bloodstained, mana collection, and my newly acquired skyward sword on wii u, I think I'll stay busy in both june and July. And Maybe even into August until astral chain drops

Currently I'm playing Dark Souls II on weekends while my main objective is 100%ing Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. Then I'm likely gonna keep inching my way into Monster Hunter World.

Metroid, Xenoblade, EarthBound shill

I run a YouTube/Twitch channel for fun. Check me out if you want to!

Please let me know before you send me a FC request, thanks.

No.

LOL thank you. Not sure if that will work but I'll try to remain strong. (read: I'm currently broke.)

Yeah a lot of the titles on Switch for the rest of the year interest me, but there's no way I'll have time for them all. I already have a bit of a backlog as it is.

For me, the games I'll for sure get day 1 are MUA3, Zelda, Luigi, and Doom Eternal. Oh, and Wolfenstein Youngblood since it's only $30. I probably won't have time for all that anyways lol. Marvel and Doom are top priority for me though.

Mario Maker 2, Fire Emblem, Astral Chain, Ni No Kuni, Dragon Quest XI, and the Witcher 3 interest me, but I'm not sure I'll get them day 1. Maybe Astral Chain to support Platinum.

(Now please release more Battle Network style, Capcom! They are great games :'''))

@darkfenrir definitely true. Despite growing up mainly with the X series on SNES, I like the Battle Network series after playing the B.Network 3 for the first time, which then resulted in obtaining both B. Network 3 and 4 from my cousin (one exchanged for another game, and the other I don't remember what I give in exchange 😅).

Undergoing games:
