@SLIGEACH_EIRE As fakeness goes, that's pretty good, apart from the square corners, which would be hideous. Someone's gone to some fair effort with that one.

@TomJ I don't dare to count. I've been trying to catch-up on about 20 years of gaming and am probably in three figures of unplayed games, let alone unfinished.

You guys had me at blood and semen.

@Grumblevolcano Nintendo don't have much in a way of good weeks left. If technology hype won't bury them then the huge triple A games launching over the coming three months will.

@Grumblevolcano i dont think nintendo is too afraid of vr stuff. they have openly stated they dont think its far along enough. if they are afraid an expensive, niche add on will overshadow their brand new game system then frankly nx probably isnt a good product to begin with.

@WebHead To an extent, I think you're oversimplifying this a bit by saying that a 'good product' doesn't need to worry about finding a gap in the hype schedule. Maybe in the 80s and 90s, new tech could wow us and we'd patiently await the release day, but in 2016 we've got tech coming out of every pocket. To me it feels like it's got to be very difficult in this current tech climate to conceive of a product that will be uniquely compelling and yet affordable for the mass market, and still have people talking about it in the intervening months between reveal and release when the internet makes everything old news within a few hours nowadays.

So many are in automatic dismissive mode when it comes to Nintendo anyway, so whatever they present that's new it's inevitable a vocal and not insignificant minority will down-thumb it from Day 1 regardless.

@FragRed Well to be honest that'll happen anyway unless they reveal the NX in September as the huge triple A games lineup starts with FIFA 17 in less than 2 weeks. If they don't reveal in September, they may as well reveal in 2017 and use the 3DS, Mini NES, amiibo and mobile (e.g. Sun/Moon and Super Mario Run will be huge regardless of when NX is revealed) to sustain a decent holiday.

@gcunit According to my Backloggery, I have at least 60 unfinished games. That's from the last 3 or 4 years. Although I did wipe my GameCube and Wii save files in 2012, cause I had the amazing idea to play all my games again from start to finish. So I've probably finished a good chunk of them before 2012, but those 60 games are only from my current systems which I've hooked up to my TV, so despite that, I think the number may be even bigger than that..

@gcunit i disagree. in fact i argue that thanks to nx rumors and mobile i think nintendo has had the most mindshare theyve had since wii u launch.

but if they dont even have a sliver of confidence in this thing and they mess up the reveal/marketing, dont give it decent online, and it suffers software droughts and bad sales, then nintendo is no longer fit to make hardware.

I don't think Nintendo really needs to worry about what is coming out this year for their NX announcement. The NX is a new console, it won't be burried in hype. Honestly, I think the PSVR and PS4 Pro are going to disappoint a lot of people, and if the NX is announced, the Hype can just transfer over to that. All this talk of, Nintendo being burried by hype, only makes sense if Nintendo's announcement goes worst than Sony's PS4 Pro reveal, which seems unlikely.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

@DefHalan exactly no new announcement or game release is bigger than a new console reveal. good reveal or bad theyll have everyones attention

Slightly unrelated, the Color Splash preorder is now available on Nintendo UK Online Store. Figured I'd mention this here as of course Color Splash is the last Wii U exclusive.

@DefHalan and if thats what they are afraid of they need to wake up. they can't just run away and hide under their desks every week. they at some point have to face us and show whatever this thing is.

You added a lot of 'and's there that weren't in your point that I was replying to

Nintendo doesn't just want to get the attention of the minority that are hooked to the web waiting for news like us. Many potential customers haven't even heard of NX yet, and maybe don't even really know of Nintendo either (a lot of people just got to hear about Pokémon Go, cos that baby was everywhere for a week or so, but that wouldn't have done much for Nintendo's reputation with the unfamiliar - Nintendo was very peripheral in all that hoo-hah).

Who's everyone? I'd wager a significant proportion of those who end up buying NX, if its any good, won't even hear about the thing until after it's on the shelves.

Listen, I'm not one of those that thinks the reveal is at all critical, I'm just saying that being bothered about how the reveal is timed doesn't mean it's going to be a bad product, it's just good business sense.

Preordered! Might as well get a free keyring and stickers that I'll never use.

I'm about the same although there are quite a few games I haven't put on there. Particularly PC games.

Delaying a product because you don't think it can compete, especially delaying the announcement of the product, means you have a bad product. If Nintendo really is delaying the NX announcement because of what other companies are releasing, then why is Nintendo going to bring this product to consumers? Its like saying Battlefield 1 should be delayed because Pokemon is releasing this Holiday, and how is Battlefield 1 supposed to compete against Pokemon... I am not saying Nintendo has to announce the NX this year but there are other/better reasons for Nintendo to wait on the announcement than waiting for a time without competition.

my Steam Library is over 600 games, I doubt I have played over 200 of them. Then you add the over 100 Wii U games and over 100 3DS games I haven't played, and I have WAY TOO MANY GAMES I HAVEN'T PLAYED... but I keep going back to Pokemon (3DS) and Multiplayer focused games (PC) instead of making progress on these games lol

I wouldn't buy it from the Nintendo Store. It's terrible how other online retalers are much cheaper than buying it at source. It's £33 at Base.com. £40 vs £33? It's not a tough choice.

I can live without cheap tat. I await reviews before deciding on buying it but several aspects of the game annoy me.

To me, that's not worth £7 more. And there's still a chance it can be found cheaper.

@skywake I don't buy a whole lot of games on Steam because of that exact reason; I know I won't play most of them anyway. The only positive thing about the high prices for console games is that I know that I will at least try to finish them if I paid that much for a game.

Octane

@DefHalan But there's a difference between delaying because you can't compete and delaying for an optimal window.
