@gcunit yes, and that is why I said there are other/better reasons to wait. If their plan is for a particular type of advertising and consumer communication to be able to maximize the success of their product and overall make the experience better for us. Then they should wait. If they are waiting because the PSVR is releasing soon and that will get more attention than the NX, then the NX as a product has already failed.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

in terms of revealing in 2016 i think the time has long passed for an "optimal window".

Here's everyone's favourite "anal cyst" weighing in on the price of NX and stating the obvious.

NINTENDO NX WILL BE ‘DEAD IN THE WATER’ IF IT COSTS $399 – MICHAEL PACHTER

The trouble with the Nintendo NX at this point is that Nintendo have gone for too long without sharing much about it- while speculating about what the new system amy be may have been fun or exciting at first, at this point, I think most people are just tired of the endless cycle of leaks, rumors, speculation, and insider reports.

Which explains why most people are swearing off of commenting on the actual thing unless we know exactly what it is that we are commenting on. For instance, take Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter. We recently had the chance to talk to him, and we asked him about the NX, and where it fits in with the upcoming PS4 Pro and Xbox One Scorpio- he noted that the system’s price in the market would be instrumental in making or breaking its fortunes.

“If the NX is really a handheld with a docking station, it could have trouble getting noticed,” Pachter mused. “I think that NX will sell well if it gets third party support, and in order for that to happen, it has to be something that publishers think will sell well. It’s still impossible to have a forecast when we don’t actually know what it is or what it will cost. If it’s a console and costs $199, it will sell extremely well; if it’s a handheld and costs $399, it’s dead in the water. The odds are that it’s something in between, but I don’t want to guess until I see what it is…"

All I know is Nintendo is letting the message of the product get away from them without even having spoken about it yet. If they keep it up they'll manage an even worse communication strategy than their Wii U one, a truly impressive feat, even by Nintendo marketing standards.

@SLIGEACH_EIRE I know it's ''cool'' to make fun of him, but what's the point? He's right after all. Sure, he's stating the obvious, but there's not a whole lot you can do at the moment. It's kinda difficult to predict how the NX will perform without even knowing what the system is.

To be honest, I think we all need to realise that the number of people who are even aware of the rumours is quite small. The general consumer wouldn't even necessarily know there's supposed to be a new Nintendo console out next year, let alone that it might be a hybrid.

Not saying of course that doesn't mean Nintendo should continue to say nothing about the NX; of course they need to. They need plenty of time to announce the product, it's main features + specs, the launch titles and titles in the pipeline, and its price. And they'll need to do this over a couple of months, slowly dripfeeding information so they can continued exposure on major news outlets that will reach a large range of consumers, as well as follow up with their own marketing/advertising.

I'd say it would be unthinkable to let the wait go on until 2017 with the supposed launch date on 3 months away, but any time up until early December probably does give them enough time to achieve this- although personally I want them to reveal the thing now as the wait is tedious!

With all the ridiculous speculation and rumour floating around, following the Apple press conference, I'm surprised no one's decided these "industry-leading chips" are in fact A10X and the NX runs iOS.

Yea, it's probably a relatively "small" group of people really following every bit of NX news and getting frustrated at the lack of real information, but if you can't keep your core happy, what business do you have? (Isn't that how some old saying goes? Who knows lol)

Anyway, yea - logically, the problem of not revealing info is not as terrible as we're making it out to be, because most people don't even know about the thing or only read about it once in some article they accidentally clicked.

But to let your emotions get involved, Nintendo DOES need to say something to us SOON. We are the people who love their products, talk them up to friends, post about them online, and support their communities all over the globe. They gotta throw us a bone soon.

@WebHead Eh just people thinking to deep about it. Remember, not even Kimishima knows what the codename stands for.

I've just assumed since the Eurogamer leak that it stood for "Codename Nvidia Tegra X"

On another note, Bayonetta 2 is on Twitch's TGS stream right now. Hope that game gets an NX port (along with a Bayonetta 3 please)

I might be wrong, but I think we haven't had an NX story published by the site all week (most recent I found was the Talking Point from last Saturday).

Has anyone seen my hype? I appear to have mislaid it...

You guys had me at blood and semen.

What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?

@gcunit Wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the Nintendo Life team is busy with their EGX plans.

On another note: the French Nintendo website listed the Link archer amiibo for Breath of the Wild as being released on 4th March 2017. The only problem is that's a Saturday, not a Friday like normal.

Would be pleasantly surprised if the nx/BotW was released at the beginning of the month and not the end of it...

@dtjive I can't really see it being released at the beginning of March, just because they've typically released consoles near the end of months (apart from the Wii and GameCube in Europe). Chances are the amiibo could be released before the NX if Breath of the Wild is released on the Wii U beforehand, like an inverse Twilight Princess.

Hang on wasn't Twilight Princess released on the 4th of March this year? If so could be a mistake on behalf of Nintendo France or that Nintendo planned for BotW to be come out one year after TP

Edit: it was, strange coincidence...
