@Anti-Matter Well, I'd certainly go for that Sport Resort game - especially since I've been posing ideas of such a game for a number of years. And that Animal Crossing Builders would become a game - though in an expanded Dream Suite within the main game.

I mean, I personally don't want a Switch Music. I could get behind a Sport Resort game

@Anti-Matter You're confusing 'we' with 'you'.
I would like a Switch Sports Resort, but I have ZERO interest in any of those other things you listed.

Well, maybe Switch Party, then. But that's about it...

Indie Highlights was ok, glad to see Wargroove releasing next week though.

I'd rather have a Metroid Prime Trilogy HD and a Thousand Year Door remaster, since a new Paper Mario I'd actually want to play is unlikely.

Then again, they did make Odyssey, which was the first 3D Mario game I was actually excited to play in a long time. Maybe they'll do the same with Paper Mario. They seem to be hitting the right notes with games on the Switch. I feel like pretty much anything is possible.

I think Nintendo played it a tad too safe last gen. Many games felt very polished but didn't really bring anything new to table.

If any of you are fans of RPG, give Crosscode a play (they have demo online) at least. It was one of the best RPG I played last year

After Arms, Splatoon and Sushi Striker all impressed me in there own way I can say I'd love to see another new IP from Nintendo soon.

@Aozz101x It's licensed so don't holed your breath. American Ninja Warrior is a kind of sports gauntlet thing that's half flashy theater and half actual sports competition, but leaning more toward actual competition in the vein of gymnastics and track and field championships than that new weird TV thing with The Rock Dwayne Johnson hosting.

The real thing is kind of B grade budget so I can't imagine the video game adaptation will be particularly high budget....

@NEStalgia Yeah, exactly, nobody wants holed breath. It's tough enough already to get enough oxygen in today's atmosphere...

@Therad Eh? Played it safe? I mean, that's definitely the case for a couple titles (MK7/8 and NSMB2/U stand out), but the 3DS/Wii U titles were mainly pretty innovative I'd say. Super Mario 3D Land/World were an entire brand new style of Mario game for the first time since Super Mario 64, Kid Icarus Uprising resurrected a metroidvania as an aerial shooter/bomber, they brought Bayonetta into the fold, XCX reimagined a fairly standard JRPG as a mech game, TMS#FE was.... I can't sum that up in a few words. Fire Emblem was revitalized finally thanks to Awakening. Link Between Worlds led up to Breath of the Wild, both of which were wonderful changes to the Zelda formula. Super Mario Maker was brand new in it's own way. The Wonderful 101, Nintendo Land, Captain Toad and Splatoon were all wonderfully imaginative new IPs.

Honestly the only other ones close to their previous entires I can think of are Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze, Pikmin 3, and Animal Crossing: New Leaf, all of which are pretty much considered best in their series. Even the new Paper Mario duo of titles and Star Fox Zero were... innovative, if not in a good way. They definitely didn't play it safe at least. Even Pokemon managed to have it's biggest formula changes ever with SuMo.

Anyways, I still missed a bunch of titles (last gen's combined library was huge) but I guess I rambled out my point lol. I honestly think they may have gotten too experimental, and forgotten to keep in mind why people liked the games, rather than playing everything too safe.

I am mostly thinking on the Wii u, but I think that is correct with their core entries. I also don't count things made by third parties in this case. It took a while before Nintendo developed something really fresh. Most innovation happened in the second half of Wii u lifespan, Splatoon, maker, etc.
I also don't think Mario world was a step up, it was more like a step back from Galaxy.

@Tsurii VC1 feels like a good story but a needless port, since, IMO, VC4 is more or less a "remake" of 1 but with different characters and a different story. Gameplay wise it feels like a do-over, of the same ideas redone but with the lessons learned from the fist. But it's still VC. They still through RNG at you too much.

@JackEatsSparrows Yeah, it's really as good as the Plsyatnatin. Now I want Labo Amiibo.

NEStalgia

IceClimbers

@Tsurii Been feeling similar, but with Crash instead of VC. Weird physics and hitboxes are making it a bit frustrating. Of course that's how the original was like. Just frustrating that I'm not moving through the game very quickly when I have so many other titles in my backlog.

During this whole week and a half that I've been playing Crash I could've finished Wolfenstein and Outlast at the very least.
