I can't imagine playing city/park building games on a console... ever. Unless there's keyboard and mouse support, but in that case I'll save myself the hassle and just get it on PC.

@JaxonH I'm happy I read that. I totally share your sentiment!

I never drive faster than I can see. Besides, it's all in the reflexes.

I mean I do complain a lot sometimes. But generally it's just about game design. But I also do complain a bit about some sketchy things like the online not being as good as it could be.

Though yeah, I would rather just spend my energy and time playing games.

@JaxonH Haha, yeah I can understand that easily enough. Though I think you're so jaded by the chronic complainers you're more likely to defend against any complaints or criticisms by knee-jerk (you used to be a commenter, but then you took a whiner to the knee... )

I'll say "repeating" the complaints to a degree is the nature of a forum in that you have multiple different conversations with different people at different times and it crosses the same subject matter often. The regulars like us just happen to see all of them. Most people don't. Or when you see another regular chiming in on it the conversation from earlier tends to continue. But yeah, I can understand where that comes from. Although some of the whiners, while annoying, are also coming from a stem of truth that might be an issue to them. Such as the complaints back months ago with Mario Tennis. There was very valid criticism for that game. The whiners were louder than they ought to be, but despite that there was truth in the base of their viewpoints too. I can understand that too. It's just hard to separate that "loud but not inaccurate" criticism from the true whiners like a few individuals I can think of that will find something negative in just about anything Nintendo while pretending to be fans in ways that make no sense

@Octane Tropico actually works pretty well on console. It's a little clunky but it works reasonably well. I gave Cities a spin on XB (it's included in Game Pass) after the Switch announce. The interface isn't ideal but it's surprisingly well designed. I'd worry that late game would be painful but at least in the beginning it feels comfortable enough.

It is good, probably the best city builder out there. But it is on sales quite often though, so you can get it cheap if you wait a bit.

And yes those kinds of games are much better on PC. Mouse is key. The same goes for civ.

I'd say there's usually, at the very least, a seed of truth to any complaint.

Even so, complaining about good things gamers used to celebrate just a short time ago, that kills me. Vita's 2 best games were ports. And you didn't hear ANYONE complain about it. Heck no. Cause a good game is a good game, and a handheld port is like Christmas morning every time.

But we've gotten to a place now where some people are stalking articles like a lion searching for prey. All they have to do is HEAR the word port and they start ripping the game to shreds. Doesn't matter how good the game is. Doesn't matter if they actually played it. Doesn't matter if it's the game's handheld debut. Doesn't matter. By simply being a port, its automatically a stain on the library and should be aborted immediately.

It's almost like video game racism (hate to say that, but it's true). Irrational hatred of games not based on the merit of the game, but an adjective describing it.

And take this example: cross play. Sony doesn't do cross play. We don't like that. How many times have I actually complained about it? Better yet, how many PushSquare articles have I chimed in on saying "oh, yet another game Sony won't allow cross play for". I'd be banned already. Sammy aint playing that nonsense. Say it once. Ok, you don't like it. No need to make 87 separate comments complaining about crossplay in 3 months on a PS fan site. People would run you off the site doing that crap.

But here? Here's thats just the norm. And if you say something like uh, hey guy, I get it, you don't like ports, THAT DOESNT MEAN YOU NEED TO COMPLAIN ABOUT EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM, you get a "why are you defending Nintendo". Ohhhh my gosh. Just 2 weeks in the comments have driven my sanity to the brink. Idk how people do it. Idk how people tolerate that crap all day every day

@Octane I have seen Xbox One gameplay of Cities Skylines and I agree, it looks cumbersome to say the least. The game is also pretty demanding, CPU wise, when the cities really start getting big and the traffic starts to really build up so am interested how the Switch handles it in these situations.

@NEStalgia ''pretty well'', ''clunky'', ''reasonably well'', ''isn't ideal'', ''comfortable enough'', reads like a 6/10

@Therad Yeah I know. A friend of mine was into Cities: Skylines after the disappointing SimCity. I tried it out back then, must've been a few years ago. But I haven't played it since, with all the DLC and mods (consoles don't get mods either, do they?). I may give it a shot some day, because those games are always great time wasters.

@JaxonH I agree with a lot of what you wrote. This site lately has definitely seen an uptick in complaining with the online and the partial downloads etc etc. Find myself spending less and less time on here as a result.

NL comment sections can get really bad with complaining or blind fanboying. There's rarely a middle ground except here where it's mostly fine.

But damn do I get tired of endless *****ing.

Complaining about complaining. I get it.

@JaxonH The sad thing is how much worse it is on a lot of other websites. GameFAQs, for example. The Switch board is a nightmare.

All I can say is: either make healthy use of the ignore function or learn to stop reading below the article. Anything else is just inviting needless aggravation into your life.

Thank goodness that nonsense rarely flies on the actual forums. I really enjoy the NL forums.

A rare one time complaint reluctantly brought up naturally in discussion, about chronic complaining plaguing and Debo'ing every single article.

If people complained as infrequently as I'm complaining here, there wouldn't be an issue believe me

@Ralizah
Eh, I know it's worse there. Would just be nice to find one place on the Internet where you can discuss current topics of news articles without the trolling and baiting and chronic broken record complaints about things normal people are happy about. Site gets too small it's all echo chamber fanboy nonsense (been part of that, I was known as the "Nintendo hating Sony fan" there because I would always stand up for them against bogus mindless jabs, similar to the ones seen here against Nintendo. Here I feel like I've got an opposite personality, because I always defend the one people constantly attack.). Get too large and it's all trolling and complaining. Seems you just can't win.

Here is good though. But here a lot of people have no interest in certain topics. There's a lot of posts people make in here, including from myself, where absolutely no one responds because people just don't care and don't want to talk about it.

@JaxonH I mean, I get you, post a comment on Reddit implying you're enjoying a game that's a port and people will jump right on you for being a Nintendo fanboy for daring to pay full price (which... I didn't but not the point) for a port of a game that was released several years ago. Like, seriously, if a game is gonna last me 40+ hours of enjoyment, I don't mind paying like 50ish bucks for it. I mean, Bayonetta 1+2 was $60 and I had to have put in 200+ hours between those two titles alone.

Oh man, reddit's gotten so bad lately. And that's part of why it feels so suffocating. It's everywhere you go now. There's no escaping it.
