Someone mentioned on reddit that all indie games in the previous direct were from European developers. That means that it's highly likely the next indies will be American.

Couldn't they have done this one and the last one as one?

@Ralizah Nier is a strange franchise overall. It really comes from Drakengard which was a dark fantasy type thing on PS2.....that essentially didn't release outside Japan (it did...but not meaningfully.) It had a few series games in Japan. Then they did Nier, which ended up being different games on PS3 and X360. It was a spinoff that seemingly had little to do with Drakengard, and it was kind of a disaster....Taro's little studio didn't have the funds to build the vision and Squeenix did the Squeenix thing and what came out was easily forgotten. Automata is a spinoff of the spinoff which seemingly has nothing to do with any of the above at all, and got breathed new life by Platinum, yet somehow feels much more like a Final Fantasy spinoff than anything else, right down to FF feeling VO acting and the vaguely Lightening-esque protagonist. There's a magic to it, though, can't deny it.

@kkslider5552000 Yeah I was starving for real games on Wii, got brand interest through Brawl, and still missed Radiant Dawn's existance. In my head canon, Awakening is the first FE after Marth & Ike raised awareness in Brawl...because it may as well have been.

@Late Oh great, more Nindies. I'm getting close to wanting to join EA and Ubisoft and get rid of all indies I know I have an old E.T. cart to flash, somewhere....

I recommend watching the Daemon X Machina Red Cube video on youtube! That game looks awesome! No idea it was multiplayer!

@GrailUK Multiplayer was planned from the start, but yeah Daemon X Machina was my third most anticipated game out of E3 2018 behind Xenoblade 2: Torna and Smash Ultimate. I'm getting that game Day 1.

Will we get more information on Planet Alpha? I can't seem to find a place to buy it, let alone price.

Or am I missing something? Steam only on their website?

@NEStalgia Even if it's 10k years in the future, Automata is still a 'sequel' for NieR. I remember there was someone making a timeline for the whole thing from Drakengard to NieR...

Nonetheless Drakengard 3 -> Drakengard 1 -> NieR -> NieR: Automata. (Ignore 2, it's not made by Yoko Taro). All 4 games got localized, luckily...

I guess you could say the story placement isn't anywhere NieR as convoluted as people make it out to be :^]

I really wish they'd remaster the original NieR and the Drakengard games, since PS3 backwards compatibility is off the table.

@Ralizah I'm sure we'll get a MG "complete saga" collection soon enough with every game except Survive. Actually quite surprised it hasn't happened already

I wonder if that Sky Gamblers game coming out today is any good. I could use a good dogfighter since Ace Combat hasn't shown up on the system yet.

@redd214 I think Castlevania will get the collection treatment first, especially with how much Castlevania content is coming to Smash Ultimate. Konami has a 2014 Mega Man type opportunity here.

@redd214 That would be fantastic, because I have absolutely no interest in owning a PS3, but this one game I really want to play is trapped on it.

@darkfenrir Nier games are related in the same way Zelda games are, I think Dark fantasy to post-apcalyptic sci-fi is quite a leap for a sequel series

@NEStalgia Not sure how I'll feel about it, but I love MGS and my gaming life has a MGS4-shaped hole in it that needs patching.

@EvilLucario The sad thing is I'd even be willing to try playing it on PSNow, but it was pulled from the service.
