I think, regardless of whether BotW is "more a Switch game" or "more a Wii U game", the point is that the Wii U never had it's own Wii U game, making it not too unusual that there was no Animal Crossing.
Considering that each Animal Crossing installment is essentially the same game with a few gameplay enhancements, and that such a game is really suited to handheld play, I think that Nintendo decided that another home-only AC would be a tough sell. But now? We have the perfect time - and the perfect machine - for a new Animal Crossing. It really wouldn't surprise me if they've been working on an HD installment for years, and are holding off its release for the right moment.
@Anti-Matter that sounds awesome I see you want to see the series going for a bigger scale and that sounds cool. Some of your ideas might be hard to implement but if any company can make it happen its Nintendo.
@JaxonH You make some fair points. Did Nintendo ever reveal when they switched development from Wii U only to both Wii U and Switch? I vaguely remember Aonuma releasing a screenshot of a message he sent to his team saying “We have decided to also release Breath of the Wild on the Switch. Have it ready for launch day ” or something to that effect. Wonder when he sent the message. But regardless I guess it is technically a multiplatform release.
Crash Bandicoot is getting published on Switch in Japan.
By SEGA.
Yet another example of "someone else has to do it" with this system.
Oh and Dark Souls Remastered is on sale on PS4 which is where I'll be getting that game now. Been far too long with no news for this alleged Summer release and the entire situation is sketchy, so yet another late port cheaper elsewhere if and when it does release.
As I said at this point its either day and date, unless the game launched pre-Switch obviously, or not at all for me
I see no reason to buy Dark Souls on PS4 or X1. Same game that was on PS3 and 360. They could sell that game for $10 and I'd still see it as $10 wasted.
The only reason the remaster was justified in the first place was to get a portable hybrid version. If I cant get that then I just dont want it at all, no matter how cheap it is. Already own the game on PC, already own the game on X1 with BC. Not gonna buy the game again unless I'm getting something I didn't already have.
The game has been out for 10 years. Why rush out now to buy it, especially when it offers nothing we didn't already have 10 years ago.
Salt and Sanctuary is coming to Switch btw

60 fps is always gonna be the reason I choose a multiplatform game on another console versus Switch. The portability is not worth the premium price and worse performance for me. At least not this time, where they delayed it so you have the bonus of not only paying more for a game that technically runs worse, but months after the other versions released and are cheaper
@JaxonH I'm not sure, but after many multiplats on PS3 were um....Bayonetta situations, I felt it best to hold off. Besides, I know Blighttown was a problem on every past gen system.

Dark Souls had no premium price on Switch. I got mine preordered for $31.99 after GCU. Same as any other console.
As long as the game runs good, getting 60fps isnt even remotely comparable to getting multiple versions of the game (normal price $100 across Wii U and 3DS or PS4 and Vita, and way below HD at that and no guarantee of cross save).
It will be cheaper on other versions with a late release, but the way I see it is, if you waited long enough for price to drop on other systems then clearly you're not in a rush to buy, so why not do the same for Switch.
Of course I would never take 60fps over 3 versions of a game in 1.

At this point, again unless its a game released early in the Switch life or before the Switch came out, it needs to be day and date for me to care, excluding timed exclusivity getting in the way and the such.

Whatever momentum DS:R might have had on Switch will have been killed off by the indefinite delay.
I was going to nab it for the novelty, but by the time it releases, I'll be knee-deep in a bunch of much more exciting Switch releases, so I'll probably pass.
As to framerate... I've discovered that I don't really care about it for anything that's not a fighter or a racer. Ys VIII is as fun on Switch at 30fps as it is on PS4 at 60fps. Hell, it's more fun, because I'm not restricted to playing it on the TV.
Same with resolution (as long as it doesn't drop to ridiculous Xenoblade 2 lows). It doesn't really impact the amount of fun I have with a game.
I have come to the realization that I have an unhealthy and irrational degree of love for this console. I feel as though it'll be the last platform I build a collection of physical games for. I have little doubt that the PS5 and Xbox Scarlet will be all-digital platforms for me. Maybe it has something to do with the physical media being cartridges rather than disc based? I'm not sure.
But I'm very curious to see what will come first. A Switch mini, as the Switch becomes the official portable successor to the 3DS? Or a Switch Pro, when Nintendo upgrades the Tegra chipset from X1 to X2? Increasing the available RAM and processing power while keeping the energy consumption low.
It could go either way...or both. Regardless, the next five years are going to be interesting.
