@YummyHappyPills I know, I got plenty of stuff in the Wii U era with UK Club Nintendo like several soundtracks (MK8, SM3DW, Smash 4, SMG, Kirby Triple Deluxe), some 3DS game cart cases and some other things. Would've got more like the Club Nintendo coin and the ALBW soundtrack if I had more stars. American Nintendo fans were jealous of the UK Club Nintendo's physical rewards in the Wii U era as mostly all they'd get were digital download codes.

@Octane @NaviAndMii @NEStalgia @Grumblevolcano I don't particularly remember the days of CN. I used it mostly in the Wii days, never in Wii U due to the Wii era being so lacklustre.

@YummyHappyPills The Wii U era was when it got good, I do remember the Wii era being bad (lots of stars expired during that time period).

@Grumblevolcano Wow, I'm so jealous of all of the OSTs you got! Although CN US has had some, too. I've had to miss out on a lot of them and got mad at Nintendo for just not releasing them for us to buy.

CN US also had the 3DS cartridge cases. I have one of them.

I have... five of those 3DS cartridge cases, and I'm actually at the point where I'm about to fill my last one. They're so handy, I wish they'd been mass produced.

As GrumbleVolcano stated the UK ClubNintendo did indeed offer some fantastic gifts for collecting the stars. I got multiple game soundtrack albums - Animal Crossing, Legend Of Zelda, Smash Bros etc., Pikmin keyrings, a Game & Watch game, statuettes and other bits and bobs. The Japanese gifts were always better, but we definitely did get some great deals. Physical items were in limited supply though, maybe you just got there too late?

@zitpig As stated earlier I didn't use the service after the Wii era.

I remember Club Nintendo. It was the service that wasn't available in most of European countries. I was able to get some Wii Points back then by creating a UK account since some games I have are from countries that had Club Nintendo and came with the codes. Wii Points were the only thing I could get since they didn't send physical rewards to countries that weren't part of Club Nintendo. The free game with Mario Kart 8 was the only Club Nintendo reward that was available for Finland as well but even then I got my game through the UK account. I would've had to wait over a month for the reward if I registered my game through the Finnish Nintendo site.

My Nintendo isn't all that great but I've gotten multiple games out of it for free. More than I ever got via Club Nintendo. I'd guess the reason why they are not giving physical rewards now is due to countries like Finland. They can't arrange international shipping for whatever reason or something. I'm happy with what I can get, not sad for what I can't get. I can see why it's different for people who have gotten accustomed to better rewards, though.

I got some cool stuff from Club Nintendo when it was still active, including some neat DS cases. In general, though, I tend to prefer software rewards.

Currently Playing: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (NS2); Corpse Factory (PC)

But that doesn't negate the fact that the UK ClubNintendo did offer some decent stuff - whether you missed it or not. And the Wii era was still going for much of the WiiU era.

Haruki_NLI

@zitpig According to @Grumblevolcano the service apparently got the good stuff I was unaware of once the Wii U rolled around, which was when I stopped using it.

No it doesn't negate the fact that it existed. It also doesn't make what I said wrong: that I wasn't aware of the good content because I used it when the content wasn't good.

Club Nintendo in the UK didnt have aspects that other regions did.

You didn't state during what time period...

Haruki_NLI

@zitpig Well that statement is actually true.

Do you know in the US they had "Platinum" membership and rewards? That wasn't a thing here, ever, to my knowledge. So technically, that statement is true

@YummyHappyPills - Yeah, each region had their own "entitlements" some were better than others. Except in Japan, where everthing was better than anywhere else!

The site again hasn't posted the Japanese charts, they're over a day late. Time to drop them an e-mail. I wonder what spin they'll put on them this week. "Nintendo have 80% software chart domination."

Octane

@YummyHappyPills There was some pretty neat stuff during the Wii era as well though. Mario Galaxy OST is one I remember. When the Wii U came around, most of the rewards became digital downloads.

Octane

Haruki_NLI

@Octane I got the 3D World soundtrack CD when it closed, as well as the Smash CD.

@SLIGEACH_EIRE
Why does it matter? We know PS4's gonna be ridin high with MH and there's no way Switch or any of its games are gonna be higher.

rallydefault

SLIGEACH_EIRE

@rallydefault It's not very professional to ignore the charts just because MHW and PS4 are riding high. All the other Nintendo centric sites published them yesterday afternoon and they don't put spin titles on the story like, "Nintendo Software Dominates The Week's Japanese Charts" when clearly last week it was all about the monstrous sales of MHW and PS4 selling x3 that of Switch. Anyway, it's not like Switch sales are bad and Nintendo software feature heavily in the chart.
