@Qwertyninty I was thinking of getting the same one you first referenced. That one on Amazon might as well cost the same as it doesn't come with a power cord or HDMI cable. My only concern is will it give the same boost as the Nintendo Dock in resolution and speed. I assume you're wondering the same thing?
Edit: After reading reviews on Amazon I'm not going anywhere near that Nyko dock. Too many people claimed it damaged their system and it wouldn't even charge on the official dock after using the Nyko one. More then half of the 83 reviews are 1 star.
I did however see the official dock for $75 which is a bit cheaper then $90 on Amazon. I don't need a second dock just yet but when I do hopefully the price comes down.
@Qwertyninty That's the one I was referring to needing a power cord and HDMI cable. Might as well cost $50 or $60 once you get those and you can get the official dock for $75 right now with all the cables.
@IceClimbers Honestly, he was my #2 pick for Pikachu's voice actor, this movie hopefully should have some great laughs because of the decision to go with him.

@Qwertyninty@Spoony_Tech I follow this guy on YouTube called Blunty who seems to have built a decent reputation for his honest 'blunt' reviews - he shared his thoughts on the Nyko Dock in the below video and seemed to be pretty impressed...his only real complaint was that it doesn't fold fully flat - but otherwise he only really had good things to say.
I've often found him to be pretty 'on the money' with his product reviews - and in the comments section, he even dismissed claims that the Nyko Dock can 'fry your Switch' etc in typically humorous fashion (below)
"Gonna go ahead and sticky this for everyone about to post "Hurr I herd dat it blows up switches USB pert!!!"....
I saw ONE reddit (LOL a ****ing reddit poster) claim that and (as always, a few random "me too". BUT, From Nyko themselves; “We are only aware of one instance that came through our customer support team. We are investigating it now and taking care of that customer,” ONE person had an issue and went to customer support. ONE. And Nyko are taking care of it.
Just another case of HACK game-blog "writers" looking for headlines and clicks turning some ****ing reddit post into claims of an epidemic of failures. Same ol' same ol'."
..but, that being said, I still couldn't bring myself to actually hit the purchase button on Amazon - fake or not, the negative 'customer reviews' on the site planted enough seeds of doubt to put me off, even though it comes with Blunty's endorsement
If there are some other trustworthy reviews backing the thing up, I might bite the bullet and get one (a mini-dock would be a very handy little gadget to have!) ..but I'm yet to stumble upon any other reliable sources that give the thing a 'thumbs up'
@NaviAndMii What I was reading were Amazon reviews though and a majority of them were bad. As far as I know you have to own the product to post an Amazon review. Either way it's more then enough to scare me away from such a product as I'm not risking it.
@Operative2-0 My bad! ..edited! ..thanks! (..apologies if anyone was offended - honest mistake on my part - sorry all!)
@Spoony_Tech Yeah, me as well - there are a ton of negative customer reviews on Amazon that range from 'couldn't get it to work on my TV' to 'it fried my Switch and invalidated the warranty!' ..I've come to trust Blunty over the years but, still, I'd prefer a second/third/fourth opinion to give me a bit more confidence before purchasing! ..I'm gonna hold off 'risking' it, at least until I've seen a few other trustworthy sources to back-up Blunty's positive review
@redd214 wow! Didn’t know insignia had a switch dock. For those that don’t know insignia is Best Buy’s in House brand. I have many products from them and are very impressed with their products. I have a flat screen hd tv I bought from bestbuy in 2007. Still works to this day and I never had a problem with it. I’m going to get this one.
@Qwertyninty Yea I had no idea either. Went shopping with my kids Black Friday morning and saw it. Was quite suprising as I had heard nothing about it before hand.
I also didnt know. I can't pass that dock up as after CHRISTmas we are going to have a good amount of games to play and sending the kids downstairs to play will make the wife happy!
