NSMB would be fun, but I'd personally like to see a port of 3D World. The game is PERFECT for the Switch with its small, bite-sized levels and need to replay levels as multiple characters. It needs to happen.
If any Mario game is to be ported, I'd like to see New Super Mario Bros U. Not only is it the best of the bunch as far as modern 2D Mario titles, not only is it the most robust game in terms of content when you factor in New Super Luigi U, it's also a perfect game to set up in tabletop mode and play two player MP.

@StuTwo That's a well thought out arguement. I'll counter that @JaxonH had the right idea, it's not just one or the other, the whole idea balances on both.

@Caldorosso-E I tend to agree. It is more than the sum of its parts and muddying the waters this soon would be a mistake.
Long term I think we'll see them compromise slightly to reach an audience that's reluctant to the message of a hybrid (either way) though. I do think the early success perhaps pushes that day a little further away*.
*but I think they'll want the cheaper handheld option for bundling with Pokémon.
@Ralizah 3D world would be perfect for Switch. It's so well set up for local multiplayer and it was criminally underplayed. I'd take it over a Galaxy HD collection for those reasons (even if I think the Galaxy games are better overall and would be a more fan pleasing option).
Whether Nintendo would risk 'Mario fatigue' by giving us any port next year though I'm not sure.
@StuTwo
The problem with a portable only Switch is that being portable is where the costs/limitations of the switch come from. Basically it wouldn't be much cheaper and it wouldn't have much of an advantage.
A home console only Switch? Well sure. But then you're removing the one thing that makes the Switch different. It's not like having a 2DS, it's more like making a PSTV.

Guacamelee 2 was announced earlier for PS4. I absolutely loved the original. It made its debut on Vita and PS3 so it makes sense for it to be announced for PS4 first but I guess it's only a matter of time until it's announced for Switch. Maybe it's a timed exclusive.
Ok so Gear.Club is now on the coming soon list and the price is $44.99........ Yeah, I don't think so. Where do they get off with that price for a free mobile download game?? They had better make a lot of improvements from what I last played for that price.

If I was only ever able to have Monster Hunter and EO games in the future, I would be a happy man.
Honestly, how would you made a new 2D Mario? What new features would you add?
You can add all the unique and crazy level design you want, but people are still going to look at it and say "just another 2D Mario". And you know what? They'd be (mostly) right - if Nintendo just made another NSMB game.
The next 2D Mario should be something that can only possible by adding key new features or gameplay moves. Not something you can bust out from Super Mario Maker.
Metroid, Xenoblade, EarthBound shill
I run a YouTube/Twitch channel for fun. Check me out if you want to!
Please let me know before you send me a FC request, thanks.
@OorWullie
They said they were planning to release their future games on Switch after Severed. It'll come.
@Spoony_Tech
I mean, something to keep in mind is that mobile game prices are undervalued. A game could be five dollars on mobile and still be worth $40 on a console. Just look at Super Mario Run. Most of Nintendo fans were thrilled they were getting a full 2D Mario game for 10 bucks- something they normally pay $60 for. But mobile gamers freaked out and thought it was too high.
So comparing the two prices isn't exactly fair. I'm not saying the game is going to be worth it, I'm just saying it's not necessarily not worth it just because it was free on mobile.
