Nah, aside from NIS, Koei Tecmo has integrated Switch into their multiplatform engine. And we're seeing quite a few games announced from Square Enix and Capcom and Ubisoft, and now others are starting to trickle in- Bethesda (And now supposed listing of Fallout Switch) and Rockstar with LA Noire, even EA is changing their tune. Bandai Namco is happy with sales and spoke of bringing more games like Dragonball Fighter Z if DBX2 did well... even if these companies prioritize the other platforms, they'll still contract out ports to devs for hire. As long as they sell enough everyone makes more money.

Everyone knows Switch will never see full support like other consoles, but that doesn't mean they're going to avoid it entirely. If Wii/DS has taught us anything, It's that companies will bring games if the platform is selling.

@FragRed Morphies Law looks bonkers! Definitely watching that. As for third party support in general, I think it's in a safe spot now and increasing. My general vibe about the Switch is Nintendo have got their A game going on whilst coming out of the isolated bubble they created. Now, I am not really expecting current AAA titles to be released, but games like Modern Warfare remastered would be a great fit.

I never drive faster than I can see. Besides, it's all in the reflexes.

@JaxonH Of that list, only Ubisoft, NIS/NISA and probably Bandai have real claim to support. Capcom, and their constant testing, as well as allowing things that may as well destroy their own support, can go shove it. SE has a mixture of teams, the XV team looking down on the Switch with Tabanta being infamous for his words in that regard, while Asano is working on Octopath, but it's been very quiet surrounding that, with us hearing more about it during TGS, but then there's always that lingering question: Will it even be localized? Only NIS/NISA consistently makes good on that front.

Again, only a few of those mentioned warrant any real trust. Not to mention that historically weak third-party sales and Wii-U distrust also still linger.

@UmniKnight
"constant testing"

Idk where you're getting this from. Capcom already has four games that will be on Switch by year's end. There is no "testing". They simply said they were going to watch Street Fighter II sales to best determine what kinds of games to bring to the console. And it did well. And now they're repeatedly announcing more games. That is, by definition, support.

It's not about "trust". **** trust. This isn't a gosh dang dating relationship. I don't need "trust". All I need is observational skills to observe the fact Capcom is bringing games. Square Enix is bringing games. Ubisoft is bringing games. Koei Tecmo is bringing games. Bandai Namco is bringing games. Even EA and Bethesda and TakeTwo and Rockstar... are bringing games.

That's called support. I don't know which games will or will not come in the future but I do know they will bring games. They are already bringing games. I don't care how much you hate Capcom you cannot refute the fact they will have four games on the system by the end of the year.

I don't think CoD is a given on Switch, most of the 3rd party support is targeted support. Here's some examples:

Ubisoft
Mario + Rabbids - It has Mario in it
Starlink - Nintendo fans like physical collectables, otherwise amiibo would've been a failure
Steep - Nintendo fans want another 1080 Snowboarding
Rayman Legends - Was originally going to be a Wii U exclusive

Bethesda
Skyrim - Nintendo fans being really excited for BotW

Capcom
SFII Final Challengers - Ryu is in Smash, original was a SNES game
Resident Evil Revelations 1+2 - The first game was originally a 3DS exclusive, older RE games were a big deal on GC/Wii

We're seeing more and more of Nintendo does something and then the 3rd parties follow if the fanbase reacts well to the Nintendo game. If BotW was a normal Zelda game rather than open world, I really doubt Bethesda would be supporting Switch for example.

FragRed

@Grumblevolcano I think with Bethesda there was more Nintendo paying in exchange to get Skyrim on the Switch, to help bolster the launch year lineup, especially if they weren't too sure how much support they would receive so quickly. Same deal with PayDay 2, Nintendo put forward cash to get the game to the Switch, fills that FPS gap for their launch year lineup.

What did happen to Pay Day 2 for the Switch? We got one trailer and it just went dark.

@JaxonH Street Fighter was a test, they said XX was a test: http://nintendoeverything.com/capcom-monster-hunter-xx-switch... You've got your head up your own back-end in regards to Capcom, and refuse to hear a different word. Will you equally refute that promoting World A DAY before XX's launch, as stated by Media Create, has damaged XX? http://www.dualshockers.com/monster-hunter-world-ps4-xx-switc...

You may think Capcom on a high pedestal, but such thinking brings you nowhere.

@antster1983 If the rumours do turn out to be true about Fallout 4 coming to Switch (personally I'm still skeptical), is say it's likely a similar arrangement with Nintendo again bring publisher. That maybe the best way to go with certain games going forward.

Take that statement and redirect it at yourself, because you're so uninformed and basing your beliefs off sensationalist headlines you haven't got a clue what's really going on.

READ THE ACTUAL STATEMENT

Beginning with Monster Hunter XX (Double Cross) Nintendo Switch Ver. for Japan, we are evaluating how we will support this platform in the future

Note They didn't say if, they said how. Because the "if" has already been decided. They are supporting Switch. That's over and done with. Discussion over. They said they want to determine how to best support it. Meaning, decisions based on hard data. Do we like Game A and Game B? Or would we prefer Game C and Game D? That's determining how to support
It.

That's not a "test". That is saying "we are already supporting the system, beginning with MHXX our official support has begun. And now that we are supporting it, we will observe how certain games perform so we can better determine which games the audience prefers.

And that's common business 101 sense. You don't go blindly dumping your entire back catalogue on any old platform, you tailor which games you bring based on the audience's preference. ALL COMPANIES DO THIS, even if Capcom is the only one honest enough to admit it.

In case you hadn't noticed they've now got 4 games coming to the system! That sure is alot of games for a "test". News flash: they're supporting the system. Tests are over. And the first one was necessary because if Street Fighter sold like crap, and the audience spoke loud and clear that they don't want third party games, then there would be no point in them supporting the system. ALL COMPANIES MAKE DECISIONS BASED ON SALES. They need to properly gage the market demand before they start dumping millions of dollars on a losing investment, or maybe not a losing investment but one which offers less returns than the alternatives.

The past week has made me realise that as time goes on people will look down on the Switch.

Constant fighting over what it is, what it isnt, what it should have been, what it lacks, the constant reminder that its still early and still has no games (This wont go away we just need to admit it).

I figured things would begin to look up but now even Nintendo fans are fighting amongst themselves.

@JaxonH If you want to call the remake of the remake of an old game, the expansion of a 3DS port, locked in 1 country, and 2 games which I can't exactly judge, for I am not at home in the RE franchise to be support, then that is on you.

Fact remains that Capcom's faffing about isn't well received. Read around on how people respond to them generally, and you'll see what I mean.

Pazzo-TheFool

If I was a Nintendo, I'd show off retro gaming for Switch, including SF2, and thus make some people not worry about the SNES Mini. Since there's no way everyone who wants one will get one, it'll drive folks to the Switch.

It's going to happen.

@BLP_Software People are still their own individual. They'll have conflicts over tastes of games, like or dislike of a company, before we're even at the "console wars" or "fan of this or that".

@UmniKnight Its okay saying hey its not for me yet but a lot resort to blatant falsehoods. I didnt stand by the "PS4 has no games" either because low and behold it did. Just only one or two of note at launch. A bit like Switch actually...

Its when those falsehoods and endless back and forths become the discussion and unfortunately its the only discussion. The honeymoon period has ended and all these issues people gleefully ignored are now ruining a system despite always being there. It suddenly has no games. Itll never sell well enough to dispel the "We dont know if its a success yet" comments because lets be honest people can easily move those goals as they wish. Most people would say outsell the Wii to be successful. Most would be happy outpacing the Xbox One. Nevermind catching the PS4 which had a head start of some margin.

@UmniKnight
The only response that matters is the sales, which shows people respond by buying the games. And I don't care if it's a port or not- games are games. And a great game is a great game. Period. That's just the industry in general nowadays. Everyone ports. Even Nintendo is starting to do so.

"New game" is only new for like a week, and then it becomes an "old game". Doesn't matter, games are games and ports are usually the best games to get because they cherry pick all the best ones. New games are a risk, a gamble, and no guarantee it will even be any good. And if you haven't played the game it's effectively brand new anyways.

I never played an HD remake of Ultra SF2. Heck, I haven't even played the original in 20 years. That game was awesome, incredible, even got a fight stick for it. Totally appeciated. That's the good stuff there.

Same for MHXX. People have been dyyyyying to play MH in HD again. This has been my dream release. Excellent game. And RE Revelations collection? Terrific games. Never played much of the 2nd, so that's gonna be a brand new experience. Not to mention, ports are actually justified on Switch because they offer many games portably for the first time ever (or at least a competent, HD portable version for the first time ever) or offer console play for the first time ever). Either way, almost every game brought to Switch offers something people have never had before. And that's worth having.

Let Nintendo worry about "new games". I just want good games. I don't care if they're new, old, large, small, ports, remasters... makes no difference. Having all the best, top rated games cherry picked and ported is a crucial aspect of the library. Absolutely crucial.

@BLP_Software The fighting over what it is is the most ridiculous thing. Why can't people see that it's a hybrid?

KirbyTheVampire

MFD

@BLP_Software So what would you want to see instead of this? A universal singing of praises? So far I've seen, it has been a ton favourable, I mean last I checked, the first original third-party game is doing really well (Rabbids). It's just that, if you've got a hybrid, and you serve 2 markets at the same time, those markets can clash in interest, such as the handheld portion objectively having more games.

It's never all good and well, and Nintendo is far from done with their work.

MFD

MFD

@KirbyTheVampire Because it's very form factor, the machine itself, is very clearly a handheld. It functions without the dock, but I've spoken enough on this. It cannot be called Switch without the dock, I'll take that little, meaningless solace from that I can.
