NBA2K18 special edition is GAME exclusive in the UK.
I don't know what to say to that. Is it a bad thing? Well yes, but at the same time this game is extremely niche. If it was available everywhere how many copies would each different store sell? Oh and there's no GAME in Ireland, maybe Gamestop will stock in here. They're rip-off merchants though.
I won't be buying NBA 2K even if it turns out to be a great version.I never could get into proper basketball sims back in the 90's when I actually had a passing interest in the sport, fueled by NBA Jam.I don't think I ever played another until the demo of 2k13 on Wii U and I could not make head nor tails of the controls.NHL or MLB games I'm definitely willing to give a go as I've had plenty of fun with those in the past but NFL and NBA is not for me unless they are more arcadey takes on the sports.Joe Montana Football on the Megadrive was an old favourite.
So if PES 2018 isn't coming to Switch, its not a case of too little RAM. Or a weak CPU/GPU. 360 and PS3 use architecture that compared to Switch are very removed from what PS4 and Xbox One use...
So is this another case of EA on Wii U where they put a gme out for full price that isn't really worth it then walk away when it doesn't sell?
I'd be willing to buy NBA 2K18. Love basketball. Don't care about soccer in the slightest so I wouldn't ever bother getting FIFA.
And that's why they need to target different markets with different games. FIFA sells better in Europe and maybe even Japan while Madden and Basketball you would at least think sell better in NA and even hockey to a lesser extent. I would buy hockey in a heart beat!

@Spoony_Tech That ignores the elephant in the room however. If EA just releases all of their sports games like they do on other systems we don't have to pick and choose. I mean I doubt that they will but it is silly that they are piece-milling games in the first place. We are consumers, not puppies. I like fifa and all but honestly I just want NHL and UFC.

"There are always weird costs and time things involved if you want to go on more platforms. We’re very familiar with PlayStation 4 and our engine runs on PC. Those both seem to be big viable markets as well so when you put one and one together you get the two platforms we’re at right now.
I will add however that I love my Switch and I’ve been playing it more than my PS4. Again though, the question is whether or not Nex Machina would be able to run on that device. Very likely, the answer is no."
Too bad. I was just watching footage of it thinking it would play great on the Switch
Oh well. More money for developers who do put their games on the Switch.
At this point, I'm thinking about totally dropping any further support for developers who don't release their games on the Nintendo Switch. Persona 5 was the last thing I really, really wanted on the system anyway.
yA lot of developers can save themselves the backlash of the power complaints or sales numbers by simply saying: That's not the audience my game is made for, or the audience I am targeting with this specific product.
@BLP_Software I agree with what you wrote about selectively choosing the right market for the kind of game you are going to create, and using ARMA is a good example of choosing to develop for the PC.
In regard to what I quoted, however, I don't think you can win either way. Everybody would find a reason to moan.
If you say it is not powerful enough (which is one of the reasons given for why Destiny 2 is not coming to the Switch), then you shall get a crowd moaning that it is possible until they are blue in the face, or that they can scale down the visuals and lower the resolution and so on and on.
If a developer comes out and says that the game is not the type of experience suited for the Switch, then you shall get a crowd moaning that it they would have bought it as well as the usual and silly 'they don't like money' kind of comments.
Whatever happens in the next two or three years, you can guaranteed that there will always be a grumpy outcome if the developers gives us their reason(s) for not bringing so-and-so game out for the Switch.
@Ralizah You're telling me that you won't support a developer if they don't release their game on the Switch?
a) You have a PlayStation 4. You have another option that some folks don't have the luxury to afford.
b) Bearing in mind that the Switch is less than half as powerful as the original Xbox One; are you going to 'totally drop support' for all the third party games that the Switch is simply not capable of producing?
c) As BLP_Software explained on the previous page; not all developers feel that the Switch (or even the other two home consoles) is the type of platform for their game(s). Is this another reason for you to 'totally drop support' for the developer, despite giving very clear and concise reasons for doing so?
I really, really don't get this mentality. As a sole Wii owner for a shy over three years, I was so happy to finally afford an Xbox 360 to compliment the Wii, otherwise I would have missed out on so many different games.
@Frosty_09 Start with Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete on the PS1. After that, play Lunar 2: Eternal Blue Complete on the PS1. Avoid the Nintendo DS one and PSP remake of the first game (Silver Star Harmony) like the plague.
Getting the complete package of each game will probably be too expensive (they both came in these bulging boxes with all sorts of cool extra stuff; I still have my pendant from Eternal Blue Complete hanging up in my room), so, unless you have a lot of money to burn, just try to get the jewel case with the discs. You might even get lucky and score the soundtracks, since I believe both games include them in their respective jewel cases.
If you end up getting them, be sure to post your impressions of them on the forums. They're some of my all-time favorite games, and I love hearing people's feelings about them.

@Ralizah You're telling me that you won't support a developer if they don't release their game on the Switch?
Mostly. Don't get me wrong: I'm not stupid or arrogant enough to think that the lack of my meager contribution to any developer's coffer is going to "punish" them or "teach them a lesson." I've simply lost interest in buying and/or playing new home console games. My money is limited, so why put it toward games that won't get played as often?
b) Bearing in mind that the Switch is less than half as powerful as the original Xbox One; are you going to 'totally drop support' for all the third party games that the Switch is simply not capable of producing?
Most of them. There are a handful of games I'll play on any platform, but otherwise, yeah, I'm probably dropping support for third party games that forego the Switch. Not out of spite, of course, but instead to reward developers who release games on my preferred platform.
c) As BLP_Software explained on the previous page; not all developers feel that the Switch (or even the other two home consoles) is the type of platform for their game(s). Is this another reason for you to 'totally drop support' for the developer, despite giving very clear and concise reasons for doing so?
Unless there's some platform-specific reason a game can't come to the Switch (not all PC games can be made to run on consoles, for example), then if a developer feels that the Switch isn't the type of platform for their game, then it isn't the type of game for my money or time.
Oh yeah, apparently Zero Escape director, Kotaro Uchikoshi, is interested in developing games for the Switch. I remember seeing a concept art of that weird eyeball before, I wonder if that'll end up on the Switch? I wouldn't mind if he also brought over the Zero Escape trilogy to the Switch either, loved 999.
“I think it’s a very interesting piece of hardware. If the opportunity presents itself, I’d love to put out something on the Switch.”
You're just a fountain of interesting trivia, aren't you? For the record, I would absolutely repurchase the Zero Escape trilogy on the Switch. AMAZING games. Although I'm still not sure how they're getting a certain part of 999 to work on single-screened devices.

@Ralizah I would love to see the Zero Escape trilogy on the switch. I've seen some of a playthrough of the first game and it looks really fun. Btw does anyone know if Danganonpa series is exclusive to the ps4/vita? I would love to have a portable version of all the games on the switch.
