Guy who has a source in Treehouse. He says it's the same source who told him Zelda was launch day before anybody else was talking about it. So he trusts him.
Still we should be looking for an official statement, later, but this is insider stuff that spins quick. It's reassuring to hear.
Psalms 22:16 (1,000 yrs before Christ)
They pierced My hands and feet
Isaiah 53:5 (700 yrs before Christ)
He was pierced for our transgressions
@AlliMeadow Yeah, VC on the Switch will be fab like you say; best of both worlds from the 3DS and Wii U. But demanding it on Day 1? I mean, it'd be nice, but if you were going to spend Day 1 of the Switch launch playing games that have been available on multiple consoles for the last 10-20 years, then I'd question whether you really needed a Switch to begin with. If there's still no VC within a few months, then that's a problem, but a delayed launch might actually give it more exposure from a marketing viewpoint as it'll be a 'new' feature for the console, and out of Zelda's limelight.
With regards to the 10ft/3m thing, it's worth bearing in mind that that was the distance at which Andre could induce the effect by stifling one of the controllers or playing with them behind his back. While was playing normally and not deliberately smothering the controllers, the response displayed on screen was perfect. I'd like to see more before I judge the severity (or permanence) of the issue, but latching onto the 10ft number and treating it as some sort of catastrophic event-horizon beyond which all Joy-Con are rendered impotent is hyperbolic and unhelpful.
Might be a bit awkward if you get arrested during a sick Zelda session at 10ft and you wanna keep playing but your hands are cuffed behind your back. You'd either have to move closer to the console, or ask an officer to bring the dock closer to you. Awks.
@skywake But can the peripherals be adjusted? Or is it just the main unit itself where changes can be made? And 10 foot is literally no distance at all, especially in front of a big screen. I hope that this can be updated with firmware or this has the potential to be a big problem. I'd like to see the Pro Controller tested out.
Well maybe but the Joycon themselves aren't necessarily the issue. I don't know the specifics of how Bluetooth controllers work on a hardware level but I think it's fair to assume that signal strength on either end could be an issue.
Think of it this way. What the Switch will do is give each of its Bluetooth devices a window of time to communicate. Otherwise all the controllers are going to be talking at the same time. How I assume it does this is by calling out when each device can talk. Like a politician in a press conference pointing to members of the press with their hands up and letting them speak. If the Switch is too quiet and the Joycon can't hear it? The Joycon won't speak up. The end result is the same as if the Joycon itself had a weak signal.
@skywake@JaxonH I think both links are equally valid. It's just YouTube itself is broken (on my browser anyway, seems to be working on my smartphone app).
I think it is funny how we had an conversation about how bad it was it didn't have 4k and now people are complaining about it not being able to transmit the signal further than 10". Or am I the only one that haven't bought an 80" 4k tv?

Yes. Yes you are. Go immediately to PC World and prostrate yourself infront of the largest 4K HDR set they have begging for forgiveness.
Sounds to me like as long as your couch is not tremendously far from the TV, you'll be fine. And again as others have said, it also seems to be dependent on the environment too; that is it seems to have more problems in the office than it does at home. The fact that Andre could only get the problem to replicate itself at home when he had the joycon fully covered/behind his back seems to suggest to me that this might be getting a little blown out of proportion as an issue for the average consumer.
Anyway, I hope Nintendo put out an official word soon saying they are working on improving connectivity and will be a day one patch. As others have said, it seems likely the fix will be increasing bluetooth strength in sacrifice for some joycon battery life (and who really needs 20 hours of joycon life anyway?)

For decades, 'The Legend of Zelda' series has been recognized as a trailblazer in game design, influencing countless titles and developers. With the latest game in the series, 'The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild', Nintendo introduces wide-ranging changes that break with many of the traditional conventions of the franchise. In this session, Game Director Hidemaro Fujibayashi, Art Director Satoru Takizawa and Technical Director Takuhiro Dohta will provide an in-depth look at how many of these convention-breaking changes were implemented.
A reminder to those who are interested in Nintendo GDC's session.

So it seems it is a distance/obstruction problem. My seat is maybe 2m far from TV. No obstruction in between. I don't think i'm going to have an issue. And as i said in the Controllers thread: it's just a matter of paying attention. And by the way it seems Nintendo is already taking care of it. So i can safely say that i'm perfectly calm. I don't think it's going to be an issue at all, Nintendo always delivered on this kind of things

I don't think 3m is a particularly huge distance to sit away from a TV. People don't always sit the optimal distance away from their screens. Especially when playing games that may involve more than one player and may have motion controls.
That said, I'm pretty sure this will be resolved in the day 1 patch.
