@Octane Thank you. Here it is! A basic poll on 3DS carrying habits. Maybe it should be in a 3DS Thread, but given it's for Switch research purposes, I'd like to run it past this thread. It's not exactly going to yield 'big data', but I've seen the claim that "the Switch isn't a proper portable because you can't fit it in your pocket" bandied around, and I'm curious how many people made a habit of this with the 3DS anyway.
Not sure whether it's worth making it's own thread for, but I'll leave it here for now.
@Maxz I've carried my 3DS around everywhere since I got one few months after the launch. I upgraded to XL when Pokémon X and Y came out. I put the system in my jeans' pocket. I have walked almost 6 million steps according to my Activity Log.
I encountered a problem with my 3DS a week ago. It started to randomly turn itself off while in my pocket. I'm not sure what is causing it since I'm unable to recreate the problem when it's outside of my pocket. I'm guessing it's either caused by the movement of the system inside my pocket (a jolt near the power button?) or it doesn't like cold. I'm more confident about the former since I've carried my 3DS around for years, sometimes in -30°C and for the past week it's only been -10°C. It's not a big deal but it means I won't be getting StreetPasses or steps when it decides to shut down.
Got a bit off-topic there but I'm going to miss carrying around my 3DS. It's my favorite console of all time. I hope the Switch is a good successor. I have to get a carrying case for my Switch which makes it a bit less comfortable to carry around. It's not as easy as taking a 3DS out of a pocket and unfolding it to continue playing Smash with friends between breaks.
@Octane Kind of. The most recent game I played, Far Cry 4, didn't pause when the controller died.
This is a pretty big problem because after extended use my charging cable no longer locks into place. Now if I was to use it on my phone, it just rests no problem. But the PS4 controller charging port is at a downward angle. So because the cable doesn't lock in, when placing the controller down especially, or even just during regular play due to its angle, it slides out and stops charging.
Even my replacement cables are seeing the locks depress from use in the DS4. I think its because when you put it down flat, it actually bends the connector upwards slightly, as the end of the cable isn't strong enough to hold the controller ever so slightly off the ground. All because the port is at a downward angle.
