Is this any different than how the 3DS and Wii U worked? Your Nintendo Account remembers your purchases, and you were always able to redownload games once you delete them. The question is, if I buy a second Switch, can I connect my NN Account to that and download everything again, either whenever I buy a new device or when my first one breaks and I call Nintendo? Do 3DS and Wii U purchases carry over? I feel these things aren't quite confirmed yet.
The wording kinda sounds like Wii U and 3DS games carry over, but that would be a bit unbelievable for Nintendo's standards. Imagine having all of my VC games on my Switch day one...
don't count on 3ds and Wii u purchases to carry over. And I doubt you will be able to download purchases on different switches at the same time.
If that's the case, then unless Nintendo can confirm that we can call to switch our NNID between devices in the event that one breaks or is lost or stolen, I don't see why people are celebrating over this.
@Therad@Nicolai Actually, the leaked documents confirmed that you can login on more than one Switch.
Hey, you're right! I think this was the link that said that it's based on documents from July and may be outdated, but all of the UI information is similar. Here it is.
@JaxonH Is that guide B&N only? I can't find it on Amazon...and I have the second collector's edition preordered...but yours looks much nicer.

I'm slightly concerned the account system will lock you into downloading eShop games from a single region, even if the system itself is technically region free. Do we have any information on this? Is it possible to link two accounts up to one system (one per region) and have both games be downloaded to the same space?
Here's a conspiracy theory for you: The reason both Sony and Microsoft produced mid generation upgrades to the PS4 and the Xbox One is because the Switch can almost match the original consoles graphics and power and given the flexibility of Nintendo's new hybrid it would be the obvious choice when placed side by side. Discuss.

I don't think either company is worried about what Nintendo does. Mid gen upgrades is mainly cuz they know they can get away with it coupled with the decreased price of 4k

Nah. It's roughly in the same ballpark, but it's more of a midway point between the Wii U and Xbone, and the latter was outdated even at the time of its release. IMO, the upgrades are just a response to 4K TVs becoming more commonplace, not to mention the fact that the boost in performance and resolution, even without a 4K TV, appeals to people who care about frame rate and graphical fidelity. Plus, it's not like they have Pro/S exclusive games or anything.
Besides, Nintendo doesn't consider itself to be a competitor in the console wars anymore. Whether they actually are competing or not is debatable, but I don't think Sony or MS expect Nintendo to dethrone them, especially if Nintendo itself doesn't.
@KirbyTheVampire we don't actually know how powerful the Switch is. We can make guesses based on what we've seen but until someone rips it open we don't actually know. I get the 4K argument however the resolution of TVs are constantly moving forward.
And of course Nintendo are competing with Sony and Microsoft. The gaming market is huge and everyone is battling for customers.
@Operative2-0 True but they've never done it before and Nintendo should never be underestimated.
They haven't been on the top of the gaming industry since the SNES, if you exclude the Wii, but whether even that system sold more games than the PS3 and 360 is debatable, and I'd put my money on it only surpassing the other two in system sales, not game sales. I don't see it being any different with the Switch, especially considering the lack of AAA third party games compared to the other systems. I'm sure the Switch will do great, but Nintendo has been the underdog of the gaming industry for decades.
@Operative2-0 how can you assure me of that? Who's your source?
I don't necessarily believe the conspiracy it's just a discussion point due to interesting timing on both big companies choosing to do something they've never done before.
@KirbyTheVampire but why exclude the Wii. They didn't just get lucky they captured and exploited a new market. Not sure how it ranks but I'm reasonably sure it's one of the top three selling consoles of all time.
