My idea for the next Mario kart game is called Mario Kart World.

You start off with a party of 4 racers chosen from the Super Mario Kart Roster (probably DK, Mario, Peach and Toad) and begin playing through an overworld of tracks (remakes of the SMK tracks). You unlock the rest of the SMK racers as you go and you can level up the racers in your party which you can swap out for your unlocks. You also unlock different cars and wheels etc as you can currently do and that adds to this progression.

Then you play through overworlds of the next games (64, SS, DD, DS, Wii, 7, 8 and Tour and a hub of new tracks) continually unlocking the characters and kart mods from those games whilst levelling up the racers in your party.

I'm only lumping the tracks together by system for variety but I guess they could be lumped together by theme.

See ya!

No. If FAST RMX is literally F-ZERO I would have bought it already. I don't have FAST RMX but I have the two prequels FAST Racing League (WiiWare) and FAST Racing NEO (Wii U) and they are nothing like F-ZERO.

1. F-ZERO has 30 racers on one track. FAST has 8, or maybe 10? 12?

2. F-ZERO has great atmosphere, characters, story, and music. FAST is rather generic sci-fi without lore.

3. Most importantly, F-ZERO has you concentrate on the course and you get opportunities to fight rivals. In FAST you have to focus on your color and change it accordingly to every course's features. The color-changing aspect of FAST's gameplay alone make it something that is far from being an F-ZERO like experience.

Other than that we expect much more from a new F-ZERO game anyway, a game that has all the great things F-ZERO fans love and want back.

1. X-Cup (F-ZERO X, 1998)
Procedurally generated random courses!

2. Death Race (F-ZERO X, 1998)
Battle against 30 rivals at the same time with infinite laps until only one is left.

3. Course Editor (F-ZERO X Expansion Pak, 1999)
Unfortunately it was never released outside of Japan.

4. All the 40 original racers from F-ZERO X and F-Zero GX plus the other ones from BS F-ZERO, F-ZERO Maximum Velocity, F-ZERO GP Legend, and F-ZERO Climax.

5. Online (ok, this is something new)
Just think about having 30 (or more) players participating at the same time. Especially in Death Race 99 (which is an idea that comes from TETRIS 99).

6. A Captain Falcon VR Helmet
I think a new F-ZERO would be perfect for Nintendo's first fully featured VR game.
VR is best to be played in short bursts, so 15 minutes for a cup with 4-5 courses would just be the right length, and F-ZERO fulfills that criteria.
VR is best played in first person or cockpit perspective, and F-ZERO fulfills that criteria.
VR adds to F-ZERO's immersion, its sense of speed and depth. I can only dream of circling through tunnels, speeding through loopings, and making the biggest jumps ever seen in a videogame.

I also liked the Story Mode and the different endings for each character (F-ZERO GX). Hope they do something similar and bigger if there's another F-ZERO game.

I'm really not expecting to see a new Mario Kart for a while but I would love it if it did happen. I played the crap out of Mario Kart 8 on Wii U but got bored really quickly of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe due to it being more or less the same game. Ready for something new.

The continual good sales of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe probably makes the possibility of a new game unlikely but on the other hand, a new Mario Kart would sell millions in the blink of an eye so it's still not a bad idea financially.

Pretty much what I keep saying regarding the situation. Releasing a new game means sales from people who already bought the previous one with those who don't already have one more than likely going for the new release (not like they'd buy both, is it?).

And the GTA V situation is different. Rockstar are still supporting the game via Online, and have done ever since it released. MK8D hasn't seen anything major since it released.

@BenAV completely agree. I played near 500 hours on Mario Kart 8 also bought the dlc which was great value.
Mario kart 8 deluxe I’ve only played 25 hours but it’s selling like crazy so I doubt we will see a new one

We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.

Yeah, exactly. 20+ million copies sold of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe means a potential 20+ million people who may move onto a new Mario Kart game if it was released. That's a lot of potential sales, on top of anyone who didn't double dip with MK8 and all the new Switch owners who will buy whatever the latest Mario Kart game is.

I also don't think Nintendo would be too concerned about splitting up the online user base between Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Mario Kart 9. A new game is naturally going to be much more active due to everyone who got bored of MK8D jumping back on and if the online in MK8D starts to become a bit barren as a result then that probably works in their favour at enticing those remaining players to move on to the new game.

I'm still not really expecting a new one soon but it'd likely sell more copies both short term and long term than literally any other new game Nintendo could have planned.

@DarkRula The GTA situation is probably to do with the logic of "What can do you do with a new game that you can't do with DLC and content updates?". The answer is "not much" until you get to the next generation of consoles where you're given more power.

I'd guess GTA VI will be announced sometime this year and not come to PS4 and XB1.

Mario Kart is the kind of game you only need one of per system. The next Mario Kart is likely to come with the Switch's successor.

DarkRula

@Grumblevolcano But why do you need a new console for that? Mario Kart has never been a series to push a console to its limits, and new things are added regardless of the tech level of a console. Two of the racing mechanics featured in the newest game came from the 3DS Mario Kart, and one feature will likely remain locked to Mario Kart 7 because it was built purely for the Streetpass feature.

I'd happily take a new Mario Kart game any day of the week but as others have said with sales still being so high I cant see Nintendo wanting to pull the trigger just yet (as much as I'd love them too)

In the mean time if they wanted to offer is an alternative that would be fine with me..... Diddy kong Racing Switch anyone???

I'd be interested to see how a port of Mario Kart 7 would sell on the Switch.

I hope we get it too. MK8D was cool as a near launch title. But also felt a little cheated since I already had it on Wii U.

@Bearzilla823 Naw, there's no need to release a full blooded MK9 on Switch. On the other hand, a big DLC expansion adding more tracks, racers, and items into the game would be great. Saving MK9 for the next system.

Well I just heard something about a game coming out this year on the Switch having to do with tires.

Wow, I didn't think I would get any response, let alone the dozen or so that i did. My daughter, who rocks MK8 made a suggestion, how about instead of a "mario" kart game we get a "Nintendo" kart game. This way you can play as more characters from the entire Nintendo universe. More themed tracks and locales. More variations on racers. and the unlimited DLC that could come along with this.

But hey I like that we had a descent convo about a game we ALL really want. Too bad the Big N doesn't really listen to their fans as much as they should. PS thank you everyone for not turning this into a completely hate laden topic. it really was fun to see we could talk about a topic without a ton of insults and whinning.

@1UP_MARIO I'm the same with MK8D. I played 8 for hundreds of hours on Wii U but only for 30 hours or so on Switch. Yet on the odd times I do play it, I think to myself 'what a game, I need to play this more' but I rarely do. Mario Kart 9 though would easily become one of my most played Switch games.
