I am hoping that we will be able to share our custom made campaigns. Not a fan of playing this style of game online really. In my experience, it is like Monopoly, if people get one or two bad turns they just rage quit. Or like Pokemon, one missed sleep powder or a critical hit, and they just turn off the game...

They said you'll be able to share your campaigns/maps to anyone, regardless of version. I'll likely go with Switch, but if the Steam version gets Workshop (and it's easy to do, lol)....then I'm definitely going for that as well. lol

Keep it PG-13-ish.
Going in completely blind on this game. Only info I looked at was NL 9/10 review score. I haven't played advance wars or ff tactics. Hope I enjoy it.
been ages since I did this with a game hope you enjoy
they say that life’s a carousel, spinning fast you’ve got to ride it well. The world is full of kings and queens who blind your eyes and steal your dreams. It’s heaven and hell.
@Heavyarms55 This doesn't seem to occur unless games tend to snowball or grind in a big way. Or the other player is taking ages to take their turn. I really hated playing HoMM6 with one of my buds, not only was he going always for a nasty Necro/Tears build, he was fighting every enemy instead of letting them retreat...
Digression aside, it all depends on how possible it is to make a sudden comeback. Tactical Mind is pretty good at this, it's a clunky game and it can look like you can lose 5 turns before you actually do, but it has great comeback options. WarGroove needs the same to keep multiplayer alive, otherwise you'll have people dropping games on turn 3.
@SmaggTheSmug Yeah, I just have bad experiences with people rage quitting in games. Pokemon and Monopoly in particular. Any game where there is no downside to doing so. One bad turn and people just give up...

@Heavyarms55 I don't know if official rules state this anymore, but Monopoly should be played with a time limit (2 hours max) and NO HOUSE RULES. No Free Parking money and keeping track of the auctions. Otherwise it's a drawn out and miserable experience. Though I suppose you were talking about the Switch version?
I am definitely one of those people who wouldn't agree to a game of Monopoly in the first place. I'd rather play Catan if I must.
@SmaggTheSmug Nope. IRL in that case. I considered playing Monopoly on Switch with random people a lost cause. Though I have enjoyed it with friends in person.

@Heavyarms55 Well, in that case I would really suggest finding some better board games, unless you particularly like Monopoly. Settlers of Catan is a good entry title and has a pretty nice Game of Thrones version that adds a little tension to what is otherwise mostly an economy/building game, as Wildlings amass beyond the Wall.
Spent a few hours on it already and for those who think i's just an Advance Wars rip off...think again. It uses a lot of inspiration from that as well as Fire Emblem but goes its own path. Has it's own gameplay features, mechanics and styles as well as character. I'd even go as far as say it does to Advance Wars what Doom did to Wolfenstein 3D.
My only problem is that the difficulty went from "well this is clearly easing me in" to "HTF DO I GET PAST THIS AREA??" in the span of one stage. Other tactical/strategy games of this ilk tend to get gradually more difficult as they go along and but this was instant. Still, I unlocked a ton of other single player content so working through that.
I was going to buy this tonight, but apparently, the eShop is having techncal difficulties. I even got a coupon on steam for it, but I'm opting to get it on the Switch.
I just finished act two and I don't see why people are so upset about the difficulty, just yet. But guys if you are having problems, YOU CAN LOWER THE DIFFICULTY. Just go into the options and adjust it.
The game JUST came out. It makes me really sad to see people already hard passing without giving it the chance because some people are too stubborn to play on a lower difficulty and making it sound impossible when it really is not.

I've played the first 5 or 6 missions so far. I'm liking it. The critical hit system is great and they've done really good job with the animations.
I also took a detour and tried out map making and while I was just going to see what it offers, I spent an hour making a map and it's not even ready yet. I knew going in that they used the same tools to create the campaign so I knew they'd be robust, I mainly wanted to know how easy they are to use.
So far they've not been that hard to use but there's some lack of information. There's no tutorial and I haven't found a way to learn more about each unit/structure/tile while I'm placing them. Just a text box saying what they are when you pick them would be fine. Now that I think about it, I'm not sure if you can access the codex while making maps. If you can, then that would help but it's still somewhat clunky way of doing it. I guess it also becomes easier once I encounter new things in campaign mode.

I am feeling like this game values speed much higher than I would in terms of ranking. In the mission where you exile a certain character (spoilers) I felt like I utterly dominated. I butchered 30 enemy united and lost only 6 and when I took down the enemy stronghold I had total control of nearly the entire map... Only to get a D rank! I can only assume that to have done better I'd have to win faster. I am loving the game thus far, but I would like to know more about how they grade your performance. I wonder, does damage to surviving units affect score too?

@Heavyarms55 I'd guess the only thing that matters is the amount of turns spent. I've gotten 3 stars in all levels but one so far and that was when I was really slow. Many games like this seem to take the same approach since it's easy to implement and score. I like Advance Wars' approach to scoring but I always get bad scores and I never got into replaying chapters.

Oh wow. Act 3 Side 1 was a heck of a mission! I see why these are optional missions! Way tougher than the main story missions so far! I WAY underestimated it at first because I had barracks and the enemy had only a few units. But wave after wave getting swarmed by harpies, and at end giants and trebuchet! Like, I don't even have giants in the main story yet! Why do random bandits have better units than my army!? Man it was satisfying to win that! First time my stronghold took damage, but I won and kept all the villagers alive! Even ended up with a 3 star A rank! Feels good man!
@Late, yeah, I think speed is definitely the most important factor. Because I lost a LOT of units in the above mentioned level but still got a good score.
