Hi,

I want to play Mario Odyssey myself, but also my little boy wants to play it through as a separate game with both of us together.

I noticed the game is different to the past games in that you don't have a set 'game save file' which you can each have. Instead, it looks like each person needs their own system account? The cons of this though, means my little boy can't go online unless I get a family sub - something I don't want to do as he'll rarely play online.

Is there a workaround?

The only online mode in Mario Odyssey is Luigi's Balloon World, which can be played without an online subscription, so if that's the only game your son will be playing online he'll be fine just using his own account as it is.
