Topic: USB problem with switch

I’ve got a weird situation. My usbs both work but my GameCube adapter/controller are not working. The GameCube adapter is the Wii U version. I have confirmed the usb is sending power (through a separate joycon charger) and my adapter still works on the Wii U. Everything else functions as normal on the switch. I have purchased another dock but the issue still remains which makes me think it’s the switch (software related?). Seems like a few people in various forums have had similar issues but i haven't found a fix. Any suggestions or has anyone else come across this recently? Its looking like im going to be spending $100 on a software fix ugh.

@infamousstyles You may have seen this already. Nintendo support has a page regarding gamecube controller not respoding with gamecube controller adapter. The only other genius idea is to try asking nintendo support. Forgive me if isn't helpful. I make it a habit to point people to Nintendo support because I've noticed most people that are new to nintendolife aren't aware that Nintendo's support page is a good resource for searching support topics, and often has the solutions. And their phone line is good too, pretty easy to get someone nice on the phone. If you know that already, you can disregard.

This page's directions expand depending on what your outcome is.

@WoomyNNYes thanks for responding and the suggestion. Yeah, I have tried that but didn't have any luck. Ive also tried to power cycle the system a few times but haven't had any luck with that either.

What software fix would cost $100? Who would provide that?

Don't hate me for suggesting this as it's a fairly obvious one, but check it's not one with a Wii U/PC switch on it and it's switched to PC.

You guys had me at blood and semen.

What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?

Nothing is true. Everything is permitted.

@gcunit. Thanks for the suggestion. the adapter is the original wii u gamecube adapter. There isn't a switch. The adapter works as my wii u recognizes it while playing the previous smash bros. I mentioned software because maybe it happened during an update as i haven't had this issue until recently (maybe 2 to 3 updates ago). Basically ive got 2 original docks and 2 original adapters. So its something to do with the switch. Nintendo is advising to send it in for $100

Here's the problem already it's for the WiiU not Switch is the problem to start with. So unless it says or indicates it's for the Switch then it will not work. Even if it is Nintendo it must list support for the Switch to at least guarantee it works. So you already identified the issues now is to get one that is listed for the Switch to verify the problem is there or not.

@SwitchForce I have a gamecube adapter for the Wii u and can confirm it works for the switch. They are basically the same thing.

@infamousstyles are you using the usb slots from the side. Try using the ones at the back.

We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.

@SwitchForce thanks for the response. nintendo advised you could use it on smash bros and i had been using it with no issues. Actually someone on the thread linked to a troubleshoot guide for the adapter. But i had both the switch version and the wii u version so it wasn't working either way.

@WoomyNNYes. Ive seen that adapter. It seems to be a really popular substitute.

@1UP_MARIO thanks for the reply. Yeah i thought id get lucky doing that but it didnt work either.

I did end up paying to send it to nintendo (which sucks because i was finally able to find ring fit adventure ugh). Its cool though...i needed to get joycon drift fixed so might as well do everything at once. Hopefully it doesn't take too long to get it back. I appreciate everyone's help!
