Thimbleweed Park has been announced for the Switch!
I for one love point & click adventures and since the Switch has a touch screen, I think this will be great to play in handheld-mode. I haven't bought it on Steam yet, because the backlog I have on there is so huge, but I will definitely buy it on Switch!
I don't like this kind of games, but I love the colors they used, the pixel art itself looks ok, but the colors are what really make it great. I don't know sometimes I feel tempted to get this one and try it for myself. It really looks great, and I mean literally.
I used to be a ripple user like you, then I took The Arrow in the knee
Kind of torn over whether I'd rather play this on iPad or Switch... But I'll definitely get it in some form or another. Might go Switch just to support the lesser spotted third party developer, as apparently the Switch doesn't have any.
The art style is heavily influenced by Maniac Mansion 1987 (C64, Amiga, PC, NES) and Zak McKracken 1988 (C64, Amiga, PC), a couple of years before Indiana Jones 1989, Monkey Island 1990, Sam & Max 1991, or Day of the Tentacle 1993.
If you have played the point & click adventure that started it all, Maniac Mansion, or liked any of those listed above, then this is the game to get. It only helps that it is made by the same old guys and seems to be a sequel/prequel that plays in the same universe as Maniac Mansion, Zak McKracken and Day of the Tentacle.
I hope this will come to retail, if there's a chance, because I really want it.
I guess it'll be only available in the eShop though, so it's probably going to be the first thing I'll download for my Switch (not counting the Zelda DLC).
I loved Maniac Mansion so am really looking forward to this. And as a slightly off topic question, is there a legal reason or something Maniac Mansion has never been released on any VC? That and Shadowgate have always been the 2 I am most disappointed I have not been able to get.
No idea what's on the Switch, but Maniac Mansion was a secret game you could play in Day of the Tentacle. If that game's on the Switch, then you already have MM.
Shadowgate is on PC (Steam and GOG) if you're inkling to play it again.
@FragRed
Totally - I remember my friends and I trying to puzzle through the first couple Monkey Islands. We eventually looked up the solutions through his phone-line 90s internet lol
@FragRed
lol sorry, "phone-line" and "dial-up" are the same; my brain is addled haha
My one friend was the bee's knees back in the early-to-mid 90s with PC stuff. He had a pretty capable computer that his parents even let him keep in his room! Woof! And internet? Ha - I live in a relatively small area, and I'm pretty sure my family didn't get dial-up until the late 90s (right around when Everquest launched). Anyway, my friend had everything: DOOM, Wolfenstein, Diablo, Command and Conquer, and Monkey Island and Maniac Mansion. AND internet! It was crazy cool.
My favorite Monkey Island, though, is actually Curse of Monkey Island (don't know if that's a heathen statement or not not in the community). The first two are good, yea, but I really loved the hand-drawn aesthetic and voices in Curse.
@rallydefault That's the third game isn't it? I had that as part of a bundle LucasArts released early 2000s but only had first three games. Though the forth from what I remember was pretty bad. Not a point and click but instead you actually run around. Oddly I don't think the third was ever re-released despite the critical praise upon release

The second monkey island is by far the best. And before people start having a go at me there are two things you should know. Number one: LeChucks revenge had the best anti piracy system going and tNumber Two: my opinion is much more important than anyone else's.
@BigBadJohn I actually agree with you. Even at the time I have a feeling the first didn't actually do that well but the second one did both critically and sales wise. I actually played the second one first because that's what my parents bought. Still remember that awesome box art.

@rallydefault I always thought it was a shame they didn't do the Monkey Island 1+2 remakes in the style of Curse of Monkey Island. That game is gorgeous!
Spoke to my sister yesterday about this game and she reminded me that we spent roughly £70 on the monkey island tip line in order to solve a few puzzles on monkey island 2. My dad wasn't too pleased!
@BigBadJohn I remember the Monkey Island 2 anti-piracy thing. I had the budget version where they basically hacked the game so you could enter anything (I guess so they didn't have to include the code wheel).
