What was the battle system like on the DS version again? I forget, and I'm already used to the iOS one. xD
I thought it was originally some rhythm-like system or something.

@Joeynator3000 You control the main character by touching (bottom screen), and a second character (top screen) with the d-pad. So you have to pay attention to both screens.

I've read good things about this game and almost picked it up during Square Enix's spring sale last year when it was available. Now I'm glad that I decided to wait.

As recommended by the OP, I think I'll try to go into this one totally blind.

I have similar feelings towards these newer versions of TWEWY that I do of non-Wii U versions of Rayman Legends. It's never not gonna be a worse version than the original imo, because it was clearly made with the platform's specific gimmicks in mind, and did so incredibly well. But at the same time, giving more success to one of the best newer games of the genre is still inherently a good thing.

I'm listening TWEWY music in preparation for the Switch version. I bought the soundtrack couple of years ago and I've added songs from that to my Spotify playlist so I hear the songs once in a while. This time I decided to listen to the TWEWY complete music collection video on YouTube because I remember listening to it once before and it had more remixes and stuff. I realized there are many great songs I haven't heard for a long time because they're not on the OST CD. Songs such as Déjà Vu and Transformation. I had also forgotten that Owari-Hajimari had an English version. The OST is from Japan so that might explain why it only has the Japanese version but then again, it has multiple songs in English as well.

Anyway, I hope they'll add new music to the Final Remix. I think they added some when they made Solo Remix. The video I'm currently listening to has bunch of official remixes I haven't heard before so I'd at least like to have those in the new version. They really like Twister, there are 14 different versions of it.

Me too! Runaway from Solo Remix was amazing, and I remember they added one of the Kingdom Hearts Remixes too with a couple of other songs. I'm hoping for another 5-10 to be added for this new scenario, just because more TWEWY music is always a good thing.

The game has just been rated M in Australia for "Mature themes, coarse language and sexual references", being a good deal stricter than the DS game's rating of PG for "Mild themes, Mild violence, Mild coarse language" back in 2008. Australia's rating is comparable more so to the ESRB's T and PEGI's 12 rating, however, the interesting thing here is that Australia's standards concerning coarse languag are a lot more relaxed than other jurisdictions, permitting liberal use of the F bomb, and even the C bomb in some cases (though that usually prompts a higher rating).

There's now a release date for Japan.

...I want that limited edition. Usually I wouldn't even consider it, but for what is probably my favorite game of all time? I'll... just wait and see what pops up when it's officially announced for NA.

Got it on sale for under 10 euro on ios few years ago...Square-Enix hasn't updated it in ages but it still works. Looks better in ios than on DS. Guess it will be a good match for the Switch and i hope its not over 15 euro/dollars

My biggest concern is that I can just about hold a DS / 3DS comfortably in one hand. A Switch however....

Maybe will play with joycons disconnected.

Is it completely motion controls?? Or can I use the joy-cons for the docked play? I am a bit confused on the different control schemes.

@scubydo Joy-Cons are allowed in docked and table top play, yes, but they require motion. In tabletop and portable mode, you can use touch controls instead of motion.

I wonder if you can undock only one joycon and use that while holding the console in pseudo tabletop? I can't imagine using the touch screen to play on Switch.....fingerprints would be a nightmare and it's not a smooth olephobic glass screen. I hate fingerprints on screens. That's not inviting, so this'll be joycon motion only for me.

I've only listened to/read three reviews so far (Polygon, GameXplain, IGN), and the general consensus so far is leaning towards handheld mode being the preferred method of play.

I'm so excited that my package will probably be sent out today, and might be arriving tomorrow... if things go right that is. Otherwise it'll arrive at Monday oof.
