Chiming in on the homelessness bit, the world is nowhere near as forgiving as some people think it is. Speaking for myself, I'm bloody lucky. Not only do I have a family who supported me during a time I had no income but I now have an stable, full time income that's above the median in my country. A country that's one of the wealthier countries in the world. And ontop of that I live in one of the cheaper cities in my country (a house in Perth costs about half as much as one in Sydney)

So I'm sitting here looking at buying a house with a fairly chunky deposit and trying to work out how many Switch OLEDs worth of cash I'll have at the end of the month after expenses if I pull the trigger on a house in a desirably suburb. Worrying that it won't be multiple Switch OLEDs worth of cash if interest rates go up too much. I am also fully aware that I'm super lucky. Lucky that my employer gave me a shot, that I have a family who supported me when I had no income, that I live in a city where housing is half the cost of other cities in my country, that I live in a country with both the wealth and the political stones to give me solid physical and social infrastructure

Because it would only take a couple of those things to not have rolled my way for me to have been on the street. Hell, I could have a few bad rolls from where I am and still end up there. You don't know. Too many people think they're in a good spot because of effort. That's a bad mindset. If you find yourself in a good spot? Recognise how much of it is dumb luck

I've felt this way very heavily the past few years. I'm a college drop-out, working part time at a simple job with decent pay, the amount of decent and talented people worse off than me is indefensible.

@Ryu_Niiyama I'm sorry to hear that you went through something like that. My mother always tells me never to judge someone down on their luck. Today it might be him tomorrow; it might be me.

Also, just to throw this out there: you can get a P.O. Box, and use that as an address for a lot of things, including an address. Even if you receive a package that doesn't fit in the box, they'll put a Parcel Slip in there, letting you know to go claim it. P.O. Boxes are pretty cheap.

If I was to guess, I think the socket in the restaurant is the culprit. Many restaurants and industrial type places use a much higher voltage than what you'd need in the home.

I just wanted to ask if you're using a socket that a regular customer could use or if you're using one that's in the back and only accessible to staff members such as near the kitchen? If it's in the back, maybe there's too much power being supplied to the charger and making it overheat.

Either way, with the issue occurring to two separate devices, the common denominator looks to be the environment rather than the devices.

I also just wanted to wish you all the best and I hope your circumstances get a little better soon.

I mean, with the way the Switch under-performs with most of it's releases when compared to PC, it's no wonder that mine's in the garbage, now. Felt great to get rid of that junk.

OP I don’t know if you have a gym membership (easy access to showers, working out and wifi, and if you are car dwelling a somewhat safe parking lot for naps.) but when I was in your situation that was how I kept things charged. My gym had a lounge so I would top off my battery packs there if I couldn’t at work. Like everyone else has suggested, the outlets at your job likely are the culprit.

That is definitely a frustrating situation! I would definitely be concerned about the potential dangers myself if I was dealing with that situation. Do you still have those issues with the consoles a few months later? Have you had to get another replacement? Would you recommend against getting the OLED to a potential customer? My husband and I have been considering buying one but I do think that we are leaning towards not getting one now based on the reviews I'm seeing. I like to research fully before making a full decision and the results are not promising from what I've found.

@AppleroseGrace Have you tried totally deleting the internet connection on your Switch and then setting it up again?

Worth a try.
