Well it is a PORTable. But yes, it is very frustrating. There wasn't a single new game announced in that Direct. (Need official word on Smash Bros. Switch)
almost none of these ports are being done by people actually making new video games so you're getting a port instead of literally nothing
the problem is that at least right now (come back to me after E3 where I bet we'll get a new game in like August or September out of nowhere) that the 3DS teams are only now working on new console games since Nintendo didn't want to die if Switch didn't work out. And thus this is not a time Nintendo is able to put out many of their own games.
Thankfully this isn't the Wii U so there's plenty to play in the meanwhile, unless you either A. Play Every Game Ever elsewhere or B. Refuse to play most good games that aren't made by Nintendo.
@JayJ I don't disagree that it's a lot of ports, but at the same time I would rather have some original games and ports then just the original games and no ports.
I'd argue that new titles would have roughly the same release schedule regardless of how many ports are released, so the ports at best add value and at worst do nothing good or bad for the system.

There's a lot of games I don't give a **** about. Doesn't mean I have to care and complain about it. That's not my target audience. I think people are too selfish, and only think about themselves.
"That's fine but, I PERSONALLY, don't have any games to buy this month". That's more your problem than anything. Other people are fine to purchase a game they never played, or one they would be happier getting a superior version for (or rebuying it if you sold your old console).
@JayJ Development-wise, it's generally done by different teams. Release-wise, it's usually not a concern unless two games are in the same series. Even then, it can be beneficial to release an older port in the bit before the new-title to increase interest in the series.
