Yeah. About 20% of the population still thinks the sun goes around the earth though (not made up, genuinely what surveys show).

@yaryah21: It's a little weird. First he says Zelda U will definitely not be on the NX, then later he acts like he just assumed it wouldn't because the NX doesn't have a touch screen controller. Geez, even if he did talk with someone at Nintendo, you gotta wonder how much information was misconstrued or assumed from the conversation. Also, no NX port would just be a huge mistake on Nintendo's part.

I'm not buying any of these rumors we've seen the past few weeks. The notion that Nintendo prefers to feed their PR information to the public via a few ambiguous middle-men is absurd.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the whole "Tantalus are porting a AAA game to Wii U" thing start before that delay?
Not that I take anything in that "leak" at face value, of course, I'm just curious.

You're correct. Tantalus referred to the Wii U port on February 26, 2015 (an interesting thing here is that it was intended to be a 2015 release back then). Aonuma announced the Zelda U delay on March 27th, 2015.

I wonder why Skyward Sword hasn't been released as downloadable yet? Maybe in between TPHD and Zelda U? Or is there a problem releasing games that require Wii Motion Plus?

Nintendo releases VC content to pad the eShops content (for their respective region) evenly during the year. This approach has been taken to make sure NintendoLife users can say "Another disappointing week" on a weekly basis.
(I'd guess Skyward Sword gets a Japanese eShop release a bit before EU/NA, but as a promotional campaign for Zelda U would make sense.)

According to Wikipedia this years E3 is as late as June 14th. So we have to wait untill that date before we finally get a proper Zelda U (or NX) date (and the NX reveal, of course). Maaaaan, that's a long wait!!!

Henmii

Grumblevolcano

@Henmii: Last year was later (June 16th). That said I think a proper reveal will happen before E3, early April probably as the financial year will be over and most of the known games will already be out.

If Zelda U doesn't show up before E3 it's so, so utterly not coming out this year.

Same goes for NX, naturally.

Don't hate me because I'm bnahabulous.

I own a Wii U and 3DS. I also own a PS4!

I disagree. I believe there was interview with Iwata where he mentioned that Nintendo might experiment with shortening the amount of time between an announcement and a release. In my opinion, 5 months seems like plenty of time to build up hype for something.

Well, the last Direct (not counting the Smash Direct) in 2015 very clearly said that Zelda U comes out in 2016. Nintendo have announced nothing about any NX release date. That's a big difference.

The Pokken Tournament promotion started about 6 weeks before release, and so did the TP:HD promotion. Revealing Zelda U fully at E3, meaning they'll have 4-5 months promotion time until the October/November window.

@Haru17: If we had never seen Zelda U before, yes, that would be worrying. But we've seen it already, multiple times. E3 is probably going to be the big reveal. I don't see what else they could reveal before that. Anything will probably lessen the impact the reveal it will have during E3.

They're definitely not going to talk about Zelda U until a good time after the release of TPHD. When we're in March, we're not too far from E3. Zelda U can easily wait another 2 months.

Octane

Grumblevolcano

@Octane: That's where I disagree, they can use Zelda U to get more people to buy TPHD. All that is needed is the Wolf Link amiibo has meaningful support in Zelda U but also requires to have done certain things in TPHD. That way as people pretty much know that Zelda U is coming out in the holiday season, they'd buy TPHD and do what is needed beforehand.

Grumblevolcano

jariw

@Grumblevolcano: They have already said that some amiibo things will transfer over to Zelda U. But since they haven't made a full reveal of the product, they can't talk about the specifics.

Why can't these theoretical TP:HD buyers buy the product after E3, if that piece info is important to them?

Henmii

@Grumblevolcano,

Is that so?! I had forgotten, but that's very late. I wished E3 was in May again (maybe next year?)!

I think they really will keep the big reveal for E3. Not only because its a big title (and a holiday title at that). But it might be a NX launch-title. Or it gets released on Wii u and NX. No way will this game only be released on Wii u. But we'll see.

We might get a little glimpse again during a Direct, but the true reveal will be at E3. Personally I go insane if they only show Link on Epona in the field AGAIN during a Direct. Nintendo, I REALLY need a little bit more!!

If the NX is truely more powerful or on par with the other systems then I highly doubt they will release this on both systems. Remember last time the graphics on both the cube and Wii were virtually the same. This time because of the different systems specs they would more then likely have to do both games from the ground up. Now maybe it comes later in the NX life cycle or it is a launch title but it doesn't launch till 2017.

@Grumblevolcano: The amiibo didn't really unlock something meaningful. I doubt it'll unlock something more important in Zelda U. Especially since it's a Twilight Princess amiibo and since you need to buy both TPHD and the amiibo to access the content; that would make it very expensive DLC. If anything, the bottomless wallet carries over, which would be a shame, but they're going to lock something behind an amiibo.
