@X-Slayer yea exactly. In fact, all this talk makes me want to fire up a new game again. It's been a little over a year, but there's no greater feeling that getting to the great plateau and having all of hyrule right there to explore with little equipment at the start.
@Pizzamorg Ah, the yunobo escort section, "my favorite," it can be a bit of a slog at times, but just remember that if you hit drone with a piece of metal (magnesis), a boulder (you can often find them resting conveniently above), or an ancient arrow (at it's weak-point), then it will instantly die. Also keep in mind that you can go way ahead, clear out some obstacles, and then go back and have Yunobo follow you.
Games I'm playing right now:
OoT N64
DK64 N64
Lego LotR Wii
Spirit Tracks DS
TotK Switch
I got excited based on some of the comments here, but the Fireblight is almost as miserable as the Thunder one. The first phase is a test of just pure and utter tedium, chipping away tiny increments of health and then running around like a Benny Hill sketch waiting for your next stun opportunity. Then in the second phase it just one shots you with a fireball forcing you to go through all the tedium again of the first phase. I know it’ll be a big waste of time, but I am just not enjoying this game so I’m thinking of just calling it quits here. I am just not having fun with this game like I was at the start, every new thing I have to do either bores me to tears or frustrates me completely.
I enjoy lots about BOTW but I just think there are layers upon layers of unnecessary BS layered over the top that sour an otherwise delicious cake.
Anyway on maybe my fifth attempt, I beat the fire boss. It either glitched out or got caught on the terrain or something because it just suddenly stopped moving. It was still attacking, but was glued to one spot and the attack went right over the top of me, so I could just freely wail on it until it died and couldn’t take any damage!
Nice to see something actually go in my favour for once, even if it was a glitch.
Fireblight is probably the second easiest blight, only loses to Windblight imo.
He is a bit on the slower side, and massive. His big explosion attack also has a “sucking” phase you can use to your advantage, by throwing a bomb to stun him.
Anyhow now that you have Daruk’s protection, that’s three easy shield parries you can use to defend yourself.
For me, I think the easiest one was the Bird one, followed by the Fish one (I just kinda spammed bomb arrows on this one and won, so it is hard to judge. But none of the mechanics or phases stopped me from doing that, unlike some of the others), then this fire one and then… gulp… thunder. I’m gonna go try and get the MS now and then… gulp, face my nemesis once again.
I went from almost giving up and uninstalling the game to probably having the most fun I’ve ever had with the game.
Now Thunder is beaten, I feel like such a weight has been lifted. With one task left, I feel truly free for the first time and am just soaking up the world, ticking off pins I flagged along the way of places to come back to (I found at least three shrines that way with no puzzles, they just rewarded me for finding them which was cool), clearing out side missions or just venturing into far off corners just to see what is there. When I get all of this out of my system, I might start the Master Sword trials and then maybe think about heading to the castle.
I just couldn’t have enjoyed the game like this, with the pressure of my failure hanging over me, but now I can finally vibe like everyone else seemed to be able to and I never really understood before. It is a joy.
I don’t think I have the DLC? What made you think I did, the Sword trials? I dunno, when I pulled the Sword, some Mushroom dude asked if I wanted to do some trials for the sword and I said no because I had a date with Thunder.
Does that mean those trials it offered me are actually DLC? It didn’t make that clear. While we are here, would you recommend buying any of the DLC?
@Pizzamorg well the DLC is all or nothing so if you want any part of it, you gotta buy all of it.
Perhaps you just found the korok that starts the Korok Trials.
There's four monster masks you can buy from a certain NPC that prevent the enemies they represent from becoming aggressive; the DLC introduces the Majora's Mask, which is a combination of all four monster masks in one. So it's like a dream to explore the world without having everything trying to kill you.
@Pizzamorg I think both DLC packs are very, very good. It's essentially more Breath of the Wild at the same quality as the base game. You get a lot more stuff to mess around with, which is great.
"Science compels us to explode the sun!"
Currently playing:
Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition (Switch)
Balatro (PC)
Maybe it is the other trials? They said something along the lines of, we know you pulled the sword but you could get even more power if you complete these trials. Or something.
Also good to know about the DLC, I might look it up.
@Pizzamorg yeah that's the Korok trials, just three side quests that lead to three shrines in the forest. Plus the one shrine at the center, that's a full 4 orbs for an extra container.
