That fishing part was horrible. I for one, want to see more side quests, upgradable items, no renting equipment, and finding important gear outside of dungeons.

And I know it gets shat on all the time, but I hope Zelda U has an extended intro like Twilight Princess. It really did a lot to set the mood and groundwork for the rest of the game. Even on replays, I had no trouble getting through it. I don't care that the first dungeon isn't until a couple hours into the game.
Twilight Princess' intro would have been 100x better had it not been for that atrocious fishing sequence. Tedium to the eleventh degree.
The part where you catch a single fish for the cat? That's what hurt a 50 hour JRPG for you? Huh.
Anyway I think TP's music is still great, even if it can only be viewed through the window of low sound quality. That's actually one of the reasons I would like to see it eventually remastered; to get higher quality sound files.
You mean the part that was terrible? That part made me not want to play Twilight Princess it was stupid and annoying especially on the Wii verison, good thing i'm not the only one who hated that part.
The Harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. When the going gets tough, the tough gets going.
What? How hard is it to raise the Wii Remote up when the bobber goes underwater? That part was easy.

@Haru17 Actually, Zelda games are categorized as Action and Adventure, not JRPG, as there is no leveling system or deep character customization.
I didn't say it played like a JRPG, but 3D Zelda games are certainly structured like most JRPGs; a long, linear adventures with some sort of overworld where you can revisit past areas.

It was a long time ago, but I think I assumed that you had to press A while raising the Wii Remote. I don't quite remember exactly what it was. It was one of my first Wii games, after all.

Just like action adventure games

Action-adventure is such a broad genre so as to be a useless comparison. Most traditional JRPGs use the world structure I citied, as well as a corresponding narrative structure, so it's a good comparison for Zelda.

Nope, no need to press A. All you do is raise the Wii Remote quickly.

I was playing Valkyria Chronicles today for the first time in quite a while, and I had forgotten how much I appreciated the small things in it. Things like the Personnel book that had bios for all of the characters in the game or the Writing on the Wall, news clippings that made the game world feel more real.
Zelda is so rich with characters and lore that I would love to see some of this kind of stuff in Zelda U. Honestly, I could sit down and read character bios all afternoon.
Also, maybe good news for Zelda U regarding momentum and interest, but February NPD results are in and Majora's Mask was the best selling game in America for the month, beating out multiplatform games like Evolve and Dying Light as well as high profile exclusives like The Order: 1886. It also broke the record for fastest selling handheld Zelda ever. Hopefully that brand power carries over to Zelda U and makes it a real system seller.

JRPG is also a broad term. Some are turn-based, some are action, some are tactical, and some are MMOs
Zelda is about as pure action-adventure as it gets. It's one of the last AAA series out there with no RPG elements. Even Call of Duty has character progression and equipment stats.
So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.
''My, my... I've certainly been appearing all over the place these past few days! If this keeps going, maybe it wouldn't be a stretch to expect me to pop up in a new Zelda game, too...? Ho, ho, ho... I've got some new masks, too, if you'd like to try them on... If I do make an appearance, I'm sure everyone will experience such happiness! Believe in your strengths... Believe... Ho, ho, ho...''
This is pretty much what they did to us with the Majora's Mask 3D hints and teasing, except it was a lot more vague. I'm pretty sure this means what we all think it means, oh Zelda team you tricksters.

Happy Mask guy for Zelda U? Good... Now let's bring in Twilight Princess Midna....
I don't know anything about Miiverse. Can someone explain why that should be taken seriously? Is that the official page for the character or something?

I specifically stated several times that I was not comparing Zelda's gameplay to JRPGs; just the world and narrative structures. As I've said, most JRPGs have a similar overworld and narrative structure, if different gameplay.

It's official. It was from an interview (Miiting) with the Happy Mask Salesman. Well, not really, because the developers answered, but you get my point..
