They've even added Switch to the list of platforms! Although I'll get it on Steam, I thought people would like to know ....

I kinda got no sense as to what this game is at all from the trailer. But yikes that dubbing, oh boy.

Is it like a real time with pause CRPG style game? Or is it an XCOM style tactics game? Either way, it'll probably be well suited for the Switch assuming those particles don't tank the framerate.

I guess we'll have to see if the battle system turns out to be a total cluster****. I feel like real time with pause battle systems can either work (like basically every CRPG ever made), or be ***** terrible (No No Kuni), there is like no in between. I am kinda intrigued, although weird this is coming out the same year as Triangle also from Square. Seems kinda like oversaturation. Hopefully this won't be as dense with text as Triangle.

@Pizzamorg Square Enix in general has been very weird. To be honest the way things are going I wouldn't be surprised if they sell their studios from outside Japan (e.g. Crystal Dynamics, Eidos Montreal) to Microsoft resulting in the vast majority of Square Enix's lineup being JRPGs. Every game from studios outside Japan seems to disappoint Square Enix and then ends up on Game Pass.

If there's a physical copy available I'll most likely dive in without hesitation.

Beyond that, I feel like I'm drowning in srpg and trpg options on Switch, there are so many.

Yeah, it's SE working with some other set of people, though, @Pizzamorg .... If they have just one veteran from SE who's worked on, say, the FFT games, it'll be awesome! Don't suppose it'll take too long for them to show more, though, so we'll soon see

Hype! Thanks for the heads up. I'll try and DL it after work. If you get in there before I get there, let me know how messy and clunky the battle system feels.

Hardly started but the controls seem pretty good, @Pizzamorg .... I'm biased, naturally, so you'll have to see what you think, anyway

Not the controls, the actual battle system itself. I think these styles of battles can be really hit or miss.

Seem good to me, @Pizzamorg .... So far, at least, it's been at most a few minutes for a battle, although I imagine they'll get bigger They'd really have to work at it to put me off, though

Played about an hour of the demo and really enjoyed what I experienced! It doesn't feel as dense and dry as Triangle did, that demo was like wading through mud. This is more like Three Houses with real time with pause combat.

Talking of that combat, I dunno whether it just feels okay right now because I only have a four man team with one or two abilities each, but it felt more like a proper CRPG which I like. Always found the Xenoblade or Tales games didn't offer true pause and felt like a cluster***** as a result. Here I can completely freeze the game, position and pick abilities. And boy that summon ability, cool as hell!

Only weird things are that a) I couldn't work out how to keep it pause and queue instructions. I had to keep doing one instruction, repausing and then doing another. Seems like a weird oversight. As does abilities having to trigger one by one and finishing before you can pause again.

B) I had just one potion and when I used it I had no more healing items? That seems weird? You can revive downed teammates and heal them in the process but surely I should be able to take more than just one potion?

This seems like an enjoyable Switch game and looks terrific on the SWOLED, but with such lovely stylised visuals I dunno whether it'd be a disservice not playing this on a platform that could run it in 4k.

I also wonder if it would control better on a keyboard and mouse, too. But I do love playing these sorts of games on my Switch for an hour or so before bed...

So badly do I want to make time to play the demo, and this game, but I don't know how I'll be able to squeeze this in with xc3 going on and splatoon3 next month.

Woo yeah this is a day 1 buy. Enjoyable combat, armor designs that are practical and dashing and just a hint of over the top power displays (seriously that summons was both unexpected and expected because it’s squeenix). I do hope they have Japanese language options. My only issue are the names.

Demo is also up on Steam, @Pizzamorg .... Yeah, I'm not at all sure how they came up with some of the names, @Ryu_Niiyama

Gave it a quick go on PC, I think I actually might prefer it on Switch. Blown up to 4K seems more harmful for the graphics than it does helpful, it seems very much like a game designed for the Switch in mind. Using a mouse does make the controls a little easier, but not dramatically so. Plus, like I say, this seems like a comfy hour before bed game.

Ah, well, at least now you know, @Pizzamorg .... I've tried Steam one as well now & it certainly doesn't seem to really be set up for KBM as well as some games are there! Nice to have options, though

@Pizzamorg Howdy, I know you like to quote folks rather than just reply, and likely me especially as a way to get around the fact that I use the block list heavily, but if you quote someone that @ me, then I get a false notification in my inbox. So please either don’t quote me or edit quotes that respond to me because it essentially becomes a spam notification and I will block you if I get too many of those. Thank you!

@BruceCM I just imagine someone just playing around with a random name generator because half the time the names are still unwieldy in Japanese. Triangle Strategy made me twitch a bit. But I am also sensitive to that as my first name is often butchered because “V” doesn’t really exist in Japanese and my buddies that aren’t also American have been mangling my name for years/decades.
