@TheFrenchiestFry Waluigi would be neat as a spinoff representative if they pulled from all the Mario spinoff series he appears in, but that could also be something Daisy is expanded into if she was decloned...not that I really care for Waluigi getting added though
@link3710 haha yeah - but given the DLC was a replacement for the third version games anyways they're probably moving on to the 2021 Pokemon game in full

@PikaPhantom See, that sounds plausible... unless they actually did decide to delay out next gen, and are going to release a second round of DLC to tide people over until then.

@link3710 If they had to delay next-gen and made DLC in the meantime, then they'd wait until a third wave is out for Sword and Shield to do a physical bundle with the expansion pass (unless that hasn't yet happened but considering the DLC came out delay free it's probably going to be fine)

At this rate this isn't about Smash anymore but a third wave in those circumstances wouldn't mean anything for Ultimate

And then a second complete edition of the game in November '21? I think it more likely we're getting a remake or nothing for next year. If it's a remake, they'll still update Sword and Shield to give us the remaining 'mon, which the ability to catch those remaining in the remake. I doubt a new Pokémon representative will make it onto Fighter Pass 2, unless of a type we have yet to see and right at the end of the Pass.

Pokémon fans already got Incineroar brandnew, and Pichu, Pokémon Trainer, and Mewtwo return. I neither want or believe they add another one, especially from a DLC pack of all things. With so much new (and old) for Pokémon fans already in the base game (especially Incineroar from Sword/Shield) there's no reason to add another one. Pokémon fans already got their new Smash Pokémon, their "reason to buy the game".

Fire Emblem players got Chrom new but since he is "only" an Echo Fighter, they also got Byleth, not to mention the return of Roy and Corrin.

Donkey Kong fans got King K. Rool new.
Metroid fans got Ridley and Dark Samus new.
Super Mario fans got Daisy as an echo, and then Piranha Plant as a brandnew fighter.

So, if there's another 1st party fighter, chances are it's not from a series that already got one or two brandnew ones or tons of returning fighters.

With this in mind there's a good chance for Zelda, Kirby, EarthBound, and Xenoblade fans to get one more fighter. I don't rule out Kid Icarus (Viridi) either.

But I honestly want Nintendo franchises that have no fighter. One of the underdogs like Chibi-Robo or Saki Amamiya or even Golden Sun Isaac, as they appear in quality Nintendo games that just didn't sell well. And they would also be representing long time Nintendo developers Skip, Treasure, and Camelot.

@PikaPhantom maybe they’re releasing the expansion pass bundled with sword and shield, because there is gonna be a third expansion in the one we have right now, so people could instantly get it downloaded onto the game.

Now would be the perfect time.

Actually seventh. Souls, Kingdom Hearts and Monster Hunter all outrank it in terms of commercial success.

Also don't expect anything related to Smash here. Nintendo will do that on their own terms.

And yeah, if it's not Lloyd Irving from Bandai Nacmo, a Dark Souls character (also published by Bandai Namco) would be just as good imo.

Kingdom Hearts is too much Disney crossover to be worth it. Sakurai doesn't just add new characters but whole worlds with sidekicks roaming the (new) Stage, or as Spirits, or in Final Smashes, Mii Costumes, etc.
Sora would feel empty, kind of unfinished with so much of his world neglected. Fan demand and popularity isn't everything. Kingdom Hearts needs Mickey, Goofy, and Donald to be represented correctly just like all the other DLC fighters, and that's just not possible, fortunately. And the new game is crap, just saying.

And Monster Hunter isn't really RPG. To me it doesn't feel like one. It has some RPG elements, but there's no EXP or levels to grind, just better gear and items to craft. But yeah, Monster Hunter is huge, unique, and great fun, and would be a nice addition to the roster.

Isn't Elder Scrolls bigger than Tales?

@Grumblevolcano Definitely. It's in the club of games with over 50 million units sold worldwide. The only RPG franchises bigger than it at this point are stuff like Diablo, Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy.

Honestly, the closest Smash will get to acknowledging Kingdom Hearts is it being mentioned on the Ultimate website as something Yoko Shimomura has worked on (in the music section, there's a list at the bottom of all the composers who contributed new remixes and things they worked on in the past - thus, a Naruto game also gets mentioned, incidentally)

@PikaPhantom Yeah they also referenced Marvel vs. Capcom in Ryu's Palutena's Guidance and name dropped it when discussing Ken's first Final Smash (Shinryuken)

I think KH has enough material on its own to give Sora some form of sizable representation, especially since KH has its own original characters and locales, in addition to its ties to Final Fantasy, but I think the closest they'll get to acknowledging the Disney stuff will probably be in a character description or a Sakurai Presents segment going over the series' history.

@Toy_Link It's a 50-50 split between Disney & Square, since the original characters were wholly designed and conceptualized by Square staff as well.

He's in a more complicated position than most other requested Smash inclusions but I don't think he's entirely impossible

What I'd like most from DLC isn't necessarily more fighters, but new modes to use this great cast and movesets.

I'd love to see another attempt at a beat-em-up side-scroller besides Subspace... going through stages like World 1-1 but with AI henchmen and a boss... more ways to play together co-operatively instead of competitively.

I don’t know if anybody else has seen the stupid crew mate in smash mod, and I just have to say a couple of things about it. 1. Crew mate would never get into smash because they already had all the dlc chosen, and there would be nothing for a move set, what would the final smash be, he stabs people with knives? 2. It’s just like fall guys, it may be popular now, but in a while it’s gonna be dead, just for another game to get the spotlight. Alright, there’s the end of my lame speech on why among us won’t get into smash.
