This is just about the only good part of the direct for me. I'll get it within the first few months I'm pretty sure. They knew we wanted slopes, so they showed that first.

Hopefully SMB2 USA still makes it in, but 3D World is fine. Didn't think it would happen for obvious reasons, but I do like how hazards can show up from the background now. Reminds me of the Chomps from Yoshi's Island. lol

What are the odds that the levels people uploaded in the original against their NNID can transfer? I'd understand if they didn't but at the same time I don't see why it'd be impossible. I think I ended up with ~37 levels uploaded, it'd be kinda nice to have people playing them again.

i wonder if they will do Super Mario Odyssey titleset like they are for 3D World, or save that for later.
it would be awesome if they added titlesets for Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine. imagine adding those glob things (i forgot what they were called, haven't play it in awhile) in a Super Mario Maker 2 Mario Sunshine level. that would be pretty cool. or heck, add Super Mario Galaxy

I'm gonna get it, be super inspired to make levels for about half an hour, then probably just stick to playing the community levels. I hope there will be easier ways to find levels other than "super hard only .2% people beat this" stuff

I'll probably use the creation features more if Nintendo allows creation of full games with a world map like Wargroove does.

I kinda hope Super Mario 3D World isn't the only new tile set. I love Super Mario 3D World, but I do have to say it's a confusing choice for a 2D Mario Maker. They would have had to repurpose everything to work in a 2D setting, which seems like a lot of effort. I really want to see more representation of lesser known 2D Mario games, like SMB2, Super Mario Land, or All-Stars.

I just want less limitations on level size, and more sublevels for us to work with. As for a campaign editor/creator, I'd be fine with just having the original world maps to work with instead of making our own. I think Wargroove does this, giving you premade maps for you to use.

I mean I know it's Nintendo so I'm not that optimistic. But still, we're talking about a game that had over a million levels uploaded in the first week and still has a community behind it. For example this video? Uploaded about a month ago, almost 600k views....

Hopefully Markiplier does another series for this game, I never got to see him play any of my rage-inducing levels. Gonna re-create some of them in this game. Also, I'm gonna have SOOOOOOO much fun with the snake blocks. xD

Never played the first one due to not bothering with the Wii U, so I'm glad the Switch is finally getting something Mario Maker. And there's going to be so much to play around with, even in addition to the stuff from the original. Slopes, autoscrolling, and 3D World assets really add a lot to this.

I agree that we may be getting more assets from other games. 3D World is such an odd inclusion by itself, I think there may be some other 3D games represented in this game. I would guess Galaxy and Odyssey, those are the two most popular.

Here is everything new in the Super Mario Maker 2 trailer I have found.
Source - Me watching the video really closely and 30 years experience of playing Super Mario games.
I'm not discussing the box art or official artwork on the game's webpage here.

Steep slopes
Gradual slopes
New User interface for selecting things to put on stage
10 coin
Blocks associated with on/off switches as well as the on/off switches themselves
Sliding down slopes
Whirlwind from the Mario 3 Angry Sun Stage
Angry Sun
Block platforms that have programmable movements. Think Super Mario World castles, they exist there.
New ice stage theme
New half filled water stage theme. From SMB3 and SMW
Custom level scrolling. So your level can scroll, not only to the right like in Mario Maker 1. Now you can scroll your level up and diagonally up as well as to the right
Different types of blocks
See through pipes from Mario 3D World
New enemies, some of which come from Mario 3D World. The one shown off was the ant trooper. Also fire bros were shown.
Bell trees from Mario 3D World
Cat suit powerup
Climbing up walls with the cat suit powerup
Piranha plants following a creator programmed path moving across the screen
