Try allowing the mushroom to go along the spikes for a bit before jumping and collecting it. Also, right before you get to the end of the section with the spikes, you can clear a lot of space with a well-timed spin-jump. That's how I clear that section.

@TheHop very good! I enjoyed both of them. I got a little sweaty during the Gauntlets snake block part and loved the ideas of the Ascent level (even thou it was a little trolly but i should have learnt which paths are dead ends when ascending:))
@Morpheel Oh yeah, I forgot that checkpoint after the intro. So I could make the goal be coins, remove the hidden blocks, and make the amount require that the five 50 count coins in the treasure room be picked up. Is that what you mean?
