@eXtremeHippo I loved your Wet and Dry level. I was going to do one like that but I changed it to present and future shifts instead, Chrono Mario - Y84 QQK 5YG I'll be honoured if you play it and let me know what you think. I loved all your levels actually but I remember playing Bowser's Bob-bomb Factory on the WiiU. I think I prefer this version, it seems to be more fluid. The factory is my favourite of yours, I really enjoyed it.
@bstoppel I played your first 4 levels, and they had a unique flair about them. Yoshi Yoshi was completely original and good practice. Just a bit too short but then again maybe that's a good thing. I enjoyed Maze and I'm actually working on something similar, just longer and trying to find a good balance. The Shmup level was good, especially considering there's so many of them. It was simple, a little challenge here and there but nothing too diverting. The only one I didn't like was the muncher course. I gave it a fair shot but just found it too frustrating to keep coming back to over and over. There was no sense of reward in it. I daren't know what killed one person right by the finishing box either. Otherwise your levels were short and enjoyable and I look forward to playing your others.
@Chihayafuru so I played your 'beginners course'. With a 3.22% clear rate (at time of playing). Seriously? People don't like troll courses. People like speedruns. Auto levels. Kaizo kourses. Some might even enjoy scrolling levels. But no one enjoys troll levels. And so that's where I stop. Rant over.
@skywake strange castle was great. So trippy and just plain wee-erd. I really liked Spikefall though. It took the basic spin mechanic and gave it an low-gravity twist which would help newbies but put everyone on edge anyway. If I could say one thing, loads of people died on that first thwomp because people typically didn't expect it. To have an initial jump to say just higher ground first would have told people what to expect. Your other courses were good but those 2 stood out to me.
@MarioLover92 Loved your sonic remakes. I had the music in my head the whole time. Awesome renditions.
@Dodger Trying on Shoes started easy enough but that second flagpole was a gift. The difficulty ramped up so much but it wasn't like we had any training for those thwomps, just the using of the shoes. Still enjoyed it though, you took the concept and ran with it. Well structured design.
That's I can play today. I'd appreciate anyone to try my courses. ID is 4XR BYS 5PF
@Dodger Also played the lemming level. Fantastic concept, excellent execution. Felt like the old Lemmings games, just as frantic and just as fun. Really enjoyed that course.
@Simbabbab
Could you clarify which references to the original level felt forced other than the two you mentioned? Thanks.
Mostly at the end: the character made out of P-doors, the Bowser fight with the Magikoopa symbolizing Peach/Magikoopa disguised as Peach, the second "fight" which is extremely easy... a well made single boss fight would be better IMHO, those parts don't make sense other than referencing the original level. The rest is really fun.
I have updated my Gizmo Cave and the Great Tower level. It now has added enemies and a new On/Off Switch puzzle. I also edited the Snake Block section. The Snake Block is now blue, there are added coins to places you will stand and enemies to make it more interesting such as Banzai Bills and Charvaargh. I hope you will play my new and updated level. The ID is 937-QVB-TKG.
The first two parts until the second checkpoint are really much better: it was smart to add coins to highlight the path of the blue snake blocks, the challenge is exciting and I had a good time. The flow could be a little better, but it's fun.
After the second checkpoint, though, it's just a series of trolling with unfair deaths. You have to realize that a lot of people play levels in the endless challenge, so losing lives is sort of a big deal there - offering no extra life is already seen as an issue, so a series of "haha I got you" deaths with a laughing sound effect, in particular after the player already spent time and lives in the level, is the quickest way to have a downvote + passing the level. I wasn't in the endless challenge, and I simply quit myself without liking the level, I don't have time for this. This could explain some negative comments.
@LavaTwilight Thanks for playing my levels! Trying on Shoes was the first one I made and I think I've gotten better at difficulty balance since then. If I made it now, I'd just have the first two sections and probably would have tweaked a couple jumps. Balancing the difficulty of a level is probably the toughest part of level design imo though, especially with puzzles. That's part of why Twitch is pretty cool - it's helpful to be able to watch someone play through your level live.
@Simbabbad Thanks for playing my level and for the feedback!
I'd play some people's levels now, but my switch is almost dead and I forgot a charger. Another time.
@zwetzel4 I played tanooki tower and galaxy levels, both were really great. Nice job. @sjmartin your mushroom kingdom apocolyspe was super fun and really satisfying making all those jumps

Thanks for your feedback! I forgot that there was the laughing sound effect and I now realize after playing a few levels myself that troll pipes and doors aren't fun. Thanks for pointing those flaws out!

I totally forgot that endless challenge was a thing! I think I'll completely redo the second part of the level to remove those trolls and to ease the pain of those on Endless Challenge. Thanks again for the feedback!

@LavaTwilight Thank you! I played some more of your levels (Chrono Mario, Mario & The Beanstalk, and 9 Lives) and liked them all. They are all very fun and 9 Lives is my favourite so far.

How would you change the second portion? I am currently at a loss and need some Ideas that don't compromise the Great Tower aspect. I am also considering removing the Tower aspect entirely and make it its own level with a Mystery House type concept. Should I redo the Tower part or remove it to make it its own full level(without trolls of course)?

@Thundertron55 Played your Meowser's Dungeon level. It was fun, there were parts I enjoyed. The boss fights didn't add much, I thought, especially when you get unlimited powerups from a pipe. Hunting through the dungeon for a spring was good though. I'd like to see more puzzle dungeon levels.
@LavaTwilight Played your Nine Lives level and your C'est Ne Pas Une Pipe level. Liked them both. Thought the maze at the beginning of Nine Lives was rather easy and straight forward, but the platforming in the second half of the level was better. That part with the springs on pillars was a small annoyance because it was easy to accidentally grab a spring by holding run. The C'est Ne Pas Une Pipe level was amusing - I don't know a lot about Rene Magritte besides the little bit we covered in my Art History: Renaissance to Modern core class I took in college, but it was a funny thing to see these references to a modern artist in Mario Maker.
