I have it, and its good! My only really complaint is that there apparently is only one music track that plays during races(or at least seems like it).

Are you sure? I'm pretty certain there are different songs depending on which track you race (like...y'know, most games would) in the original, so that'd be a weird change if true.

@kkslider5552000 Actually in the original N64 version music only played on the 3rd and final lap. It was a very strange choice by the developers that I still don't understand to this day. I'm not sure if this was the case with the Dreamcast and PC versions as I never played those, but in this new release the music thankfully plays through out the entire race.

@vio That's not what I was talking about. It sounds like this person thinks that every single track has the exact same song. Which I hope isn't true.

@kkslider5552000 It's the same track every course. That's the way it was on the N64. It was a cue from the final lap of the podrace scene from Episode I.

@Maulbert

I just checked through some N64 gameplay to double check this, that's not true.

At the very least, the music around 5:00 and 13:40 are different songs. Going through these, I think they just sound similar. At times to a point where I don't blame you for think they're the same song. And MAYBE they're all part of the same song from the actual movie soundtrack or something, but here they're different...

@kkslider5552000 I played the hell out of it on N64. I was a HUGE Star Wars fan back then. It's one track.

@kkslider5552000 I was wrong. So it appears it is a grand total of two tracks. Either way, there is a not big list of music tracks for this game.

Just did what I never managed to do as a kid, complete this game. I was surprised how short it was, too bad there is no online multiplayer. It would turn it into a beast of game.

Just got it and started it.

Such a joy. Exactly how I remember it, too. The opening cinematics look rough, but otherwise, it's still a nice looking game. Not texture-wise, of course, but the overall art design — and, especially, the track design — are just top-notch, always have been. And it's incredibly responsive and fluid, what with the increased frame rate and adaptation to the Switch's controls.

Pretty happy with the game, to be honest. Only thing I wish is that it were a little bit harder at the beginning. Even when I was a young teen, this was always a very, very easy game. It only gets a bit more difficult at the end. Which is kind of a pity, because the tracks are so brimming with shortcuts and cool time-cutting strategies. I second the motion for online multiplayer. The potential skill ceiling is quite high, given the surprising sophistication of the gameplay, from breaking to sliding and the boost mechanics, not to mention the deep knowledge of the tracks (and all alternative, often hidden routes) that would be necessary to compete.

It is a great game, and worth the price point IMHO. However, not having played it ever before I am slightly stuck.

I got to the second race on the second league but my pod doesn’t seem upgraded enough. I can only finish 10th. I don’t have enough trugruts to upgrade my Pod and repeating old races doesn’t seem to give me credits. So how can I progress?

Start again or get better, it's abit of a design flaw of the game that you can't get credits from previous tracks but it does force you to make sure you get the tops spots.

I remember playing this back in the day, switching it to the view in the pod amazed me at the time.

@norwichred

Second-league races should be beatable even without upgrading your pods. Remember to use the boost, which a lot of people forget about.

I assume you're at Howler Gorge, so take advantage of the huge drops to get some air time. (Tilt the control stick down.)

Also, before starting a race, there's a prize distribution screen. Make sure to set that to "Winner Takes All" and, if you're not going to win a race, just restart it. This way you get a larger share of the winnings, which helps you upgrade quicker.

I had no idea about a boost or a prize distribution system! Going to check it out now and probably start again!
