Topic: Splatoon 3 May Just End Up Being A ‘One Version’ Game, Could Nintendo Truly Be Ending Regional Restrictions For Good?

Today, I would like to go over the issues and problems caused by Nintendo’s famous ‘regional restrictions’, and how the newest installation of the Splatoon series might put that to a stop for its players.

‘One version’ games are games that do not have multiple versions of the games, like with there being Japanese versions, Northern Release versions, European Release versions, etc, and you can not play in a certain language, even if your game console is set for a certain one. Throughout the Splatoon series, there have been regional codes, Splatfests (Turf War festivals in-game), regional gear, and DLC codes, only available in Japan, which is pretty aggravating to other players. This article goes over the possibility of regional restrictions being nonexistent in this game.

The possibilities of Splatoon 3 being a one version Worldwide Release are pretty high, considering that it’s been a big thing that Splatoon players alike have been complaining about since the beginning.

However, this would end up making it harder for the translators in the other Nintendo.Co Facilities, like in North America, Europe, Australia, and all of the others, due to some of the text being ‘lost in translation’, like in Splatoon 2’s Octo Expansion, Commander TarTar’s dialogue is mostly lost in Japanese, and made up to sound legitimate by the English translation teams. Another example is the 2019 Splatfest theme, ‘Boke versus Tsukkomi’, which was translated into English as ‘Funny Man vs Straight Man’, but is rightfully translated to ‘The Chaotic (or foolish one) versus The Peacemaker (or unfoolish one)’. Therefore, it may be harder for them to translate everything into the right languages without messing up the text, which they usually end up doing, anyways.

But, we can only wait and see. September 9th, my dudes. Though, maybe we might end up getting more info on this after all? Only time can tell. Thank you for reading! ^^
