I’m going future. The past could potentially be interesting, but it could also just devolve into nostalgia pandering. I’m tempted to choose present since it’s what I personally believe, but it would probably lead to the least interesting Splatoon 4. Therefore, I’m choosing Team Future.

My absolute dream Splatoon 4 would be a game that took place around the great turf war. I absolutely love all the character designs this series has and I don't think I'm ready to move on from them yet. We already know that Splat 3 is the last of the story modes with these characters, so the only way to get another game with them would be a prequel. I want to know more about how the idol groups formed, what life was like for the octarians who lost the war, how the war itself went, the story behind DJ octavio, etc. I want to learn more about squid culture!!!

Do you guys think the new amiibo will give different gear than the base versions? EG, Callie will give the Hero Gear, but Alterna Callie will give the Space Suit or something?
@CaleBoi25 YES!!! Imagine picking octoling and fighting along with Octavio (Marina too?) in the octoling army!!! I feel like past has by far the biggest potential!

@Croctopus Regarding your point about playing as an Inkling, as @BingleyBong_TEAMPAST and I said, perhaps a Great Turf War game would allow us to choose a faction to join at the very start! We know there were defectors on both sides, and this could flesh them out!
Unrelated to finalfest, but I just played with 2 people called Trump 2024 or something close, and I REALLY REALLY REALLY want to report them, but I don't want my account to be banned for reporting people who are deemed ok by nintendo. I mentioned before how I didn't care for all the pro-palestine posts, but this is 100 times worse in my eyes (admittedly because this time it's a political opinion I strongly disagree with). Please, someone tell me if it's ok to report them!!!
@BingleyBong_TEAMPAST Back when they were much more common, I reported all of the Palestine/Israel references (pro or anti) whether it was lobby posts or player names, and I didn’t get in any trouble for it.

@BingleyBong_TEAMPAST I'd say don't because
1. Some people have done names like Joe Biden or Donald Trump and it's fine, so I think only reporting them because they add the "2024" to the name is unfair.
2. Unless the name is actually offensive (not just against a point of view but actually inappropriate) it would be very easy to get in trouble from Nintendo.
@CaleBoi25 I probably won't report them, but adding 2024 does change the meaning a fair bit. I've seen lots of joke Trump and Biden accounts, but adding 24 makes it much clearer that you support them.
@KidSparta lol, that seems a bit extreme, but I respect that you were willing to risk your account to help cleanse the splatoon world of politics
@BingleyBong_TEAMPAST Eww.. Pretty vile to see that in a game beloved by the LGTB community and I suspect even the devs would be disgusted by it too, but I don't see much point in reporting them. Very unlikely Nintendo would do anything about it. Just have to wait until the election is over..
Not fully decided yet, but I think I'm going Future. I have a special place in my heart for the first Splatoon, but it's not nearly as refined. Pretty basic and lacking in content in comparison to 2 and 3. A lot of its specials are OP broken nonsense too..LOL! I also can't forget it's infamous Damage Up ability that got abused to and hell back(i'm looking at you e-liter mains middle finger firmly raised). I'm convinced this(and its slower gameplay) is why a lot of no skill casuals love it and don't really like 3 much. I think it has become a bit overrated over the years while 3 is underrated, at least right now. Consensus might be different 4 or 5 years from now.. Who knows.. Oh, and it didn't even have Salmon Run! 👎
@vio NooOOOoo, you're only focusing on the bad parts of Splat 1!!! What about the maps! The uniqueness! Amiibo challenges! Squid Jump! THE SQUID SISTERS!!! Also, I strongly doubt nintendo will add back lots of things you talked about. I don't think damage up will ever be making a comeback, and nintendo would definetly redesign or outright replace the awful specials. Also, what if past gave us a game taking place around the great turf war! A game further back in time than the first one! Just because you didn't like some stuff in splat 1 doesn't mean you should abandon team past! Also yeah I'm just going to wait and pretend I never saw politics in my schplatoon .
