It’s just that I had reached rank S+0 in a few modes, and kept ranking back down to rank S. Some of these players’ power levels in online ranked battles is over 9,000!!

@LinkxPeach There are a lot of quiet nerds on this site.😁😉 I didn't want to post to say, "I never tried to get above S rank". So, that's part of why I didn't say anything.

Have you tried searching youtube for "how to get out of S rank splatoon 2"? The only person I know here that likely plays at high skill level is user BenAV, but I've tagged him a few times in recent months when nobody else had answers, and I didn't want to annoy them.

I've seen people look down on searching youtube, but with high level play, knowing some things is only part of the solution, it's not an instant cheat. Getting gud still takes effort to learn how to read & react to things well enough to implement some strategies. example: shooting splashdowns. (god that's fun 😉)

Nope, not really. I just searched, “how do you ranked up?”

@LinkxPeach That's a good start. Search "how to rank up", "how to S+", "how to rank X".

I imagine S+ and X rank people have 500-1000+ hours, even 2000+. I don't know how your hours compare. 1000-hours-me would definitely dominate 200-hours-me.

With each rank in Rocket League, there are trends in strategies and skill/control as you get higher in rank. And then the top tier ranks, basically, those in top 20%, or 10% or higher don't really know anything special, their advantage comes down to being much more consistent, or quicker. Or you start playing mind games when you have a crap-ton of hours. When you know common ways people react, you can start tricking people or faking people out because you are thinking multiple moves ahead - it's very much like chess. It's fun.😉 As I've progressed through Splatoon 2 ranks, that's the same kind of pattern I've seen.

Searching "how to rank up" and watching some higher level play will make you more aware of how you're playing. And you should make some progress, rather than blindly putting in hours of playing the same way. Watching higher ranked play, you'll see how some people use certain weapons, which may enlighten you. I learned just how good the Splattershot Pro can be by watching ThatSRB2Dude on youtube. Or you may see some people use maps in a way you hadn't though of.

If someone here has better advice, by all means chip in.
