@Vivianeat do you think it will be better than sonic generations or the sonic boom games. Will they be a totally new sonic game with totally new game play
@Vivianeat I love Sonic games, so I'm definitely looking forward to it. I think it may be something else, I didn't notice Eggman in the recent tailer. Again, I'm avoiding as much as I can to avoid spoilers. Hoping to get this one for Christmas (a November release is closer to Christmas, and my folks get me a game or two, got Sonic Colors Ultimate this way), but I will watch the first few levels played to see how the gameplay is.
Honestly, I've enjoyed all the Sonic games, even some of the "bad" ones (just because a critic says the game is bad, does not mean it will be bad to everyone that plays it, remember entertainment and games are subjective and will vary from person to person), so I'm still looking forward to this. No, I haven't played Sonic 06, I don't have an Xbox 360 or a PS3, mostly a Nintendo and PC kind of guy.
@Ninfan It's worth noting the Sonic Boom games were developed by Big Red Button on Wii U, and Sanzaru Games on 3DS, Sonic Team had little input to those. Frontiers is Sonic Team, the developer behind Forces, Lost World, and Generations.
Anyways, I am so excited for this, I know people are saying it looks sparsely populated, but look at BotW, there are some parts that have no enemies for a while and you are running super fast so you don't want enemies slowing you down all the time.
GOTTA GO FAST!
@Bunkerneath Except, I'm not. I just wanted to point out it's not the Boom developers, just the ones that made those other Sonic games. Call it unpopular opinion, I did like Forces after playing it, so I'm not going to talk badly about it, we'll have to agree to disagree with this one.
That's something I noticed, so I assume in areas without many enemies, Sonic will be running more than fighting, or attacking smaller enemies to reach different areas. Like a small enemy path or something to reach a higher area. Again, I've been avoiding most stuff just to not be spoiled, so these are guesses.
I have it purchased on Steam and this is the first time in years I'm actually excited for a Sonic game. The last time I was actually this excited was back before Sonic Unleashed came out for both 360/PS3 and the Wii.
I'm super excited for this one, it actually looks really fun and I'm really interested in how the story's gonna go. I've seen most of the leaks, those are just making me more excited, especially as they all slowly come true/ @GoombaKing64 I uh unironically loved the Sonic movies... Especially the 2nd one (besides that dumb wedding sideplot) They were very faithful and satisfied me as a sonic fan, I got really good theatres though, one of those kinds that cheers ad laughs together.
Games I'm playing right now:
Tears of the Kingdom - Switch
@Snatcher Me too, it's usually fun when things like this happen. I still remember the Zelda and Yoshi collab Sonic Lost World on Wii U had, they were pretty fun to play.
The resident Trolls superfan! Saw Trolls Band Together via early access and absolutely loved it!
Hmmm Sonic frontiers...To buy or not to buy. That is the question.
I've never exactly loved 3D sonic. Only adventures 1 and 2 and heroes ever really came close to being enjoyable for me as broken as they were. Some of unleashed was alright. Should i or shouldn't i?
That's somewhat encouraging but that's not saying much. I hear it's been getting 7/10 ratings pretty much everywhere. The sonic adventure games got praised to high heaven despite how horribly broken and sloppy they are. I'm still trying to figure that one out. Maybe because they were a major change for the series at the time.
I have now played over 15 hours of the game and am still on the 3rd island (64% done first & 63% done second).
Sonic controls extremely well and can blast over terrain at full speed without any noticeable drops in performance. You can even run up slopes and mountains to be sent flying across the island using forward momentum.
The mysterious story is serious and very compelling to see through, definitely one of the best in the whole series, it even calls back to and expands upon previous lore/story. The new villain and character dialogue are also both written extremely well (constant one liners are gone!).
Cyberspace is a good change of pace from the open zones and story. They’re kinda on the short end, but (most) are really fun to replay over and over until you master them. Most S ranks are way too easy (while some are quite hard), so mastering the stage is more about improving your own (or your friends) times then getting a better rank.
Each island also ends with a mega boss battle that could be considered on par with with final bosses of most (maybe all?) previous games. They’re epic with banger vocal tracks blasting.
The OST is full of so many bangers, and the character interactions are really nice. This is my favourite game in the series and deserves all the love it’s getting. Haters, get wrecked.
