Topic: Sinner Sacrifice For Redemption is 18 gb! Why?

I like Dark Souls, so when I've bought similar games on the eshop, such as Animus, Animus Harbinger, Decay of Logos, and of course Ashen.

Animus and its sequel are 2 gb each, and they are very similar to Sinner SFR. So why does the latter take up 18 gb of space? Is there a techie out there who can explain this?

I of course was interested in the game, but when I saw how many gigabytes it was I had to decline. I already have two SD cards and I only have about 50 gb of space left. I don't see why this game should take up more space than Ashen, a vast open-world Dark Souls clone which is only 5 gb.

Thanks a lot for that! It's amazing that the Switch file size is more than double that of the Xbox file size. Your theory that it's due to the game having been made for Switch last is probably right, but those 18 gigabytes will continue to put me off buying the game unless I end up having to buy a new SD card sometime.

@TheWingedAvenger I'm assuming you know you can delete games, to free up space, and redownload them later? If you know, disregard the rest of this post

You can always delete & redownload purchased games via eShop. I've got some games I don't touch, and I deleted them to free up space. When you delete, the Switch keeps your game save data/game progress, unless you purposely tell it to delete game save data. If you redownload a game, you can resume where you left off, like you never deleted the game.

To redownload games:
open eshop
after eshop opens, select your user icon in upper right
Then you'll see the Redownload tab on the list of options.

Every purchased game you delete gets added to the Redownload list. As long as eshop is still around, you can redownload games you've purchased & deleted at any time.
