Yep, glad to hear that you're having good experiences. Overall I'm really enjoying the game, although to be honest I am rubbish... if I regularly hit the ball I'm quite happy haha!! Trying not to be demoralised, and I've had more than enough cool moments of scoring great goals or epic saves that make me happy to stick with it. The spring event thing is a simple factor that makes me want to play a few more games, too, although I don't really care about the items that come out.
So I guess the division thing, I haven't even noticed actually, I'm Semi-Pro (laughably untrue), but when you get better rated is that when you can go into the "competitive" section and play matches for actual division rankings?
Maybe I'll earn myself a few more decryptors and see you at Mannfield!!

@mid_55 when online do you pick competitive? If you do after 10 matches it'll rank you on your ability. Don't worry about not thinking you are any good most of us aren't, just keep playing and enjoying it , you'll get better.I'll add you as a friend maybe we can have some online matches together? We can lose together haha
Rocket League has a huge skill-ceiling. You have to be good at predicting the Ball, being aware of where your team mates are, positioning, not to mention the mechanical skills ( dribbling, aerials etc. ). And there in lies the addictive nature of the game. You get better and better at it, and when you hit that natural ceiling of yours... You can keep practicing or just concentrate on having fun.
Its the best competitive game of all time. 😊

@mid_55 I was shocking poor at it for a good while. The game is not easy even though it might seem like it would to be to someone who hasn't played it. The more you play, the better you'll get. You'll start to read the match better too,know when to challenge for the ball and when to hold off. The better you can be at working as a team and trusting your team mate instead of going for everything yourself, like probably everyone does at the start, then the more success you'll have.
About being a Semi Pro, I think that rating mostly goes by how much experience you have, as in how many Matches you've played. I'm a Veteran, 2 levels above Semi - pro. It can't be just experience though, your skill level must play some part as I'm pretty sure I could play the game every day for the next 10 years and never make it to Rocketeer.
@Jbs-Dad Cheers, I really love it too haha. I've been using it a lot, even playing Rocket League. I'm definitely up for teaming up but probably not for a couple of days . Too many distractions just and my game will suffer. Want to make a good account of myself seeing as I've put 220 hours in and spent £80 on it
@OorWullie whenever your ready no rush. When we do it'll take a number of games to learn how each of us play and adapt to it. That what's so great about rocket league different players different styles its limitless.
@OorWullie I have a confession to make. I have played the PC version of Rocket League for 2160 hours. I am so accustomed to the Xbox controller and 144hz display that I play significantly worse on the Switch. But I enjoy it regardless! 😊

I just started playing on competitive last night. I had assumed that it would be harder and therefore less fun, but actually the skill matching has meant that the games are at a better level for me than before, and now I'm often the "best" player on a losing team instead of always being the worst one on a winning team haha!
Maybe I'll start to improve!
Still hopeless underneath the ball though!

@mid_55 the ranking system is well done in this game and playing against players of similar level will help you improve. As for under the ball it's difficult, try and predict where the ball is going and position accordingly to deal with it. I struggle when I get caught under the ball, you have to put your rockets on and go directly up its not a skill I've got down yet.
I've had a couple of sessions on Steam this week, and my overriding impression is that the experience on Switch is better. Matchmaking is faster, pitting you against closer matches in ability, and no lag.
On Steam I've been consistently stuck with veterans, masters etc. (I'm only semi pro) and there was some disgusting lag going on.
You guys had me at blood and semen.

Lol at todays april fools on Rocket League. They made all but a couple of toppers extra large. I thought I had a glitch and used the redownload option. What a way to waste some time huh.
I hope it’s just an April’s fool joke because all my presets looks ridiculous! Today is 2.4. and they are still huge and ugly! They should change them to normal asap
The big update with performance/visual improvements and tournaments is available now. It's quite a big one, it's taking me 20 minutes to download.
Just played a match there, the graphics in performance mode are so much better. Haven't tried visual mode yet. The tournament mode is amazing.This update is an enormous addition to the game.
@Lroy I've got to nip out for 15 minutes, I can set a tournament to start at say 10pm? Not sure about invites. To do 2v2 or more for tournament need to be in a party. I'll have a look now. I'll get back to you.
@OorWullie The Mrs. is using her work laptop again and it always bricks my router. So can guarantee how long I'll be connected this evening. Just been kicked from a 2 v 2 game. So bloody frustrating. Can only assume the wireless drivers/software on her work laptop are somehow messing up the router?!
