@Zyrac I think that they'll probably be exclusive to the Switch - I'm pretty sure each version has exclusive items that you can use (if you wish) to show other players which system you are playing on ..or just to make them all super-jealous of your ice cool Mario hat!
I'd imagine that there'll be a Switch exclusive flag to put on the back of your vehicle too - and hopefully a couple of other little items related to other Nintendo franchises
@SuperJoon Yeah, hopefully Sony change their stance before too long...
With cross-network play across Switch, Xbox and PC (with Minecraft, I believe, even intending to extend cross-play to Android, iOS etc) - if PS4 is perceived to to be leaving their players on the outside of that wider community, it's not really going to make them look very good going forward...
The pro's of cross-network play surely outweigh the con's...it's inclusive, consumer friendly, accessible - merging dwindling player bases can help to ensure that online lobbies remain well populated for longer - for me, it's the future of gaming...and Sony look a little behind the times.
@NaviAndMii Sony probably will listen if PS4 sales start to suffer as the Playstation brand is the only thing keeping Sony afloat. If say for example we get to the holiday season and evidence shows that Switch is doing extremely well as a result of the big games released between launch and Super Mario Odyssey (someone who picks up a Switch for Odyssey will likely pick up other games such as BotW at the same time), Sony will probably be quick to implement crossplay.
@Grumblevolcano I hope so, it's something I'd love to see a lot more of in future
I'd like to think that more and more developers of multi-platform, online multiplayer games are exploring the possibility of implementing cross-play as a means to help connect players with one another - and to help ensure that lobbies remain well-populated for longer...so hopefully there'll be growing pressure on Sony from within the industry on this front.
...who'd have thought that Nintendo would be open to the idea though?! - took me totally by surprise! I think it represents a really positive shift in their approach going forward and certainly adds weight to the idea that they're evolving in to a new, more flexible Nintendo - still innovative and forward-thinking, but now seemingly more receptive to fan demand and more open to ideas from the outside It's totally refreshing - and Nintendo seems to be oozing with positivity once again! Long may it continue!
@Grumblevolcano allowing cross play does not help sales it's the opposite, if Sony allows crossplay now you don't have to buy a PlayStation to play with your PlayStation friends
I just had to create an account because I feel obligated to tell you all how amazing rocket league is. Just looking at it doesn't do it justice. My brother in law bought it right around when it came out and i went over there and he was like hey heres a game you might like and showed me and my first thought was that i like the music they use but I'm not so sure i would like the game.. I like sports games and shooter games mainly with other mario/lego games mixed in too that my wife likes to play as well. I really like competitive games that give a nice challenge. Well he gave me the controller and in the first game my interest was piqued. I will admit it can be a frustrating game for newcomers but if you stick with it, the fun you have on it is really limitless. It's so cool all the tricks and talents you can develop with practice, flying through the air with precise accuracy and stealing a ball or scoring a goal is just so fulfilling. I've been playing games my whole life and i can honestly say if i could only pick 1 game to play the rest of my life, it would be Rocket League. So competitive and so fun. Give it a shot. Should be awesome on the switch.

I would argue the exact opposite. If playstation doesn't allow you to play with anyone else, why buy a playstation? Just convert to an Xbox or Switch.. I have actually felt the effects of this type of thing in the past. in young teenage years I had an Xbox, always played online with my cousins and friends.. But when i found out Playstation had free online play (back then) I made the switch to playstation and in the coming years I noticed a lot of people did the same. These types of things can be very powerful for how people pick which console they want to use. Usually the best determining factor is to play with friends, however there are many factors and i think Sony is only hurting their stock.
Super excited for Rocket League on Switch. The cross-play factor is huge. With Nintendo being open to concepts like this, I see a bright future for them and us fans
I can't wait for it to come out. Apparently there aren't very many rocket league fans on here but It's gonna be a game changer for the switch. People will buy the switch just to play rocket league on the go. Yesterday some footage of the game was released and I'm so excited they're really putting a lot of effort into making it the same if not better than all the other rocket league versions.
