Hi all i know when this game came out there was quite a lot of frame rate issues and bugs.
But there were some patches released.
Just wondering if anyone has played it with the patches and if its any good now as I really wanted it back in the day but the review made me stop the pre-order.
Only just thought of it lately because it was the game quiz answer
Thanks anyways

@Bunkerneath I played through it docked. About the only place I remember less-stable frame rate was on the middle of first island when the view is widest & the game is trying to put on it's most impressive presentation, but I thought it was tolerable to fine.(this was the area where the launch version of the game really struggled.) While my memory is not fresh, I don't recall performance issues after that part on the first island. (Does anyone else agree or disagree?)

I think it's a pretty good game. I think I had to look up a couple puzzles on that first island area, but I find a lot people seem to figure games out better than me. So, take that with a grain of salt. Some levels were impressive. After I finished it, I actually kinda wanted a sequel. So, I recommend it.

I noticed dekudeals shows it hasn't gotten a sale since 2021. It's page there says main story was 5.5 hours, main+extra was 10 hours. I think it may have taken me 15+ hours to play through, but my playtime hours were on my launch switch, which I gave to a friend. I don't think my current OLED would show the hours I put into the game to confirm it.

I remember the frame rate stuttering a bit, but I've seen worse.

@Magician I remember getting stumped on some of those white stone puzzles as you enter the enclosed limestone temple or underground area of the first island. Did you recall having to cheat to figure them out?

@WoomyNNYes It depends on if you consider watching walkthroughs qualifies as cheating?

I suck at puzzle games.

When I first insert a new game card, if it offers me a software update I tend to ignore it - I'm interested to see what state the base game is in. So while I can't remember for sure, I think I bypassed the update when I first played RiME.

I proceeded to play through a decent chunk of the game without exiting the game too (I think).

All comes down to personal tolerances, but I didn't have any significant issues. Memory suggests I too found the most noticeable performance issues when I first started playing it - a few fuzzy visuals and the like, but nothing I wasn't expecting or was upset by.

As I got further into the game, any performance issues faded away - not saying there weren't any, but I just stopped noticing, I was so absorbed with the game. I really enjoyed it and only stopped playing because of some other game distracting me. Kinda has an Ico X Journey vibe to it. Looking forward to finishing it off at some point.

You guys had me at blood and semen.

I played it on PC and it's got a few performance issues there too, for what it's worth.

As others have said, it's not a very twitchy game for the most part and you can still enjoy its story, puzzles and atmosphere even if its not silky smooth all the way through.
