This game was the first game my girlfriend enjoyed playing with me, absolutely worth every cent! xD
I think this might be a great entry point in general for non-gamers.

Finally got a Perfect on every stage. Took me around 20 hours or so all up. That's probably where I stop playing for now at least but I could see myself coming back in the future for the fun of it. It was a good time.

That's outstanding! I'm impressed. I've never gotten all perfect in any of the games, but I kinda want to for this game

I've supp'd for months on naught but broth of bean

@charliecarrot The last game in the series I played was on Wii and back in that one I never quite managed to get a Perfect on the final remix. Been many years since then though and I've played a lot of other rhythm games in that time so I had a much easier time with this game. Although there are still a few things you can do beyond just getting a Perfect in this game but I know my limits haha.

@BenAV If you're looking for more challenges in the genre, Rhythm Dr. on PC is a must play. I could never get perfects on some of the later levels

buzzhoney

BenAV

@buzzhoney I actually picked that up a while back but just haven't gotten around to checking it out yet. Definitely one that I'm keen to give a go at some point.

just got the game in the mail earlier today.

beat the first level which is the jumping through the hoops level.

the second level which is the umbrella mini game i might have to keep practicing that like crazy for now. for an early beginning level, the umbrella game is a little tough where you really have to keep up with the opening and closing of the umbrellas where they even open up real fast and then close real fast etc

BenAV

@seinfeldfanatic I was thinking about that when I went back for the Perfect on it. For the second level of the game, the timing feels a little on the tricky side.

well, for an early in the beginning minigame, i find that rain umbrella minigame to be a bit anonying where they do crazy beats way too fast etc.

ill see if i can get my sister sometime this month to play that minigame and have her to try to complete that minigame.

One thing that I've noticed about this game is that the difficulty progression doesn't seem very linear. There's some pretty tough games thrown at you early, and then some dead simple ones they introduce later on. Difficulty is definitely subjective, to be sure, but that's the feeling I had playing through the first handful of columns.

Also on that point, I remember struggling so hard just to pass some of the games on Rhythm Heaven DS, but I haven't failed a single game so far in Groove. I think that also shows how personal experience changes perceived difficulty of a game - like how your first Monster Hunter will always be the hardest. That's why you can never really trust series veterans who complain about a new entry being too easy!

@charliecarrot as a veteran... of sorts, it's certainly not the easiest game in the series, even from my angle of getting amazing on 90%ish of the games first try... but it is one of the more accessible, with how low the bar is to pass. i appreciate they didn't skimp on difficulty at all, though it was strange to throw offbeats in on like the first minigame lol

@seinfeldfanatic you ever notice the screen narrowing before the particularly fast opens? early on, you'll wanna keep an eye out for cues the game didn't teach you in practice while you get used to using the music as a guide. easier said than done, coming from someone with a very good sense of rhythm, but a lot of rh music tends to build the inputs into the song, or flow in such a way that there are times it feels natural to hit a button. i promise, it's not just reaction time!

remember; your chicken parm is not safe around me!

@squiddu-real well thats your opinion. the game in the very beginning for unknown reasons, its very hard/tough even for an early beginning minigame such as that rain umbrella minigame. they go way too damn fast. period.

i dont spend 24/7 like you playing rhythm/beat musical games like Rhythm Heaven or any music rhythm beat games

👆👆 that part

in for a shock

@seinfeldfanatic remember it's a rhythm game - each of the games are (theoretically) beatable with your eyes closed. Try to feel the music, play it multiple times and get used to the flow of it and the sounds of the cues. I'm also always bobbing my head or tapping my foot while playing. Helps immensely

I enjoyed what I played on the demo. I think it’s time I just buy it now.

update time.

i finally winged it in that rain umbrella minigame. got past that and did the next third minigame and then unlocked a few others.

only managed to get one medal from the frog lily pad and that one is really fun along with the brake and speeding minigame of the "new" car.

and the sliding and jumping on the track field that gets weird when it has that "bug" where everything speeds up real fast that catches you off guard every time.

Same for me, I haven't had time to make as much progress yet as perhaps most people in this thread but so far I haven't failed anything, whereas I remember finding the DS game really hard and even having to skip some of the games. I'm sure having more experience of the series helps a lot but I do think the newer games are a lot more forgiving, plus it's just easier pressing buttons to the beat than swiping a stylus.

On the topic of Rythem Heaven, or other mini game compilations....WarioWare Move it, I'm assuming is much better on NS2 thanks to the 9-Axis gyro. Motion accuracy and reliability should be a notable step above. Might not be perfect, but much much closer to what had been achieved with WW Smooth Moves on Wii.

A bit random, but then you've got NS1 boomer shooters that automatically lock at 60fps & 1080p(vs 'targeting' 60fps which comes with frame drops and stuttering) like with the NS1 versions of Turok 1 & Power Slave. But playing those two on NS2 automatically locks them at 60fps and defaults gyro to 9-Axis.

Not only do you get greater accuracy with much less drifting, but NS2's 250hz polling rate(Like PS5's, with the Dual Sense) gives you smoother 1:1 Gyro aiming than on NS1. Turok 1 does feel a bit repetitive and visually soulless these days though. PowerSlave holds up much better.

Never played this series before, but dang is this game fun!

I'm on the... 7th set of levels I think? Got a few perfects so far, medals on most of the remaining. Some are tricky, though, at least the first time and/or if I'm not devoting 100% of my attention to the game. Playing with a TV show on in the background isn't as optimal with this one as it is with most other games lol
