Re6: 2 Chapters in with Leon's campaign. I actually really love the action the game has. Ample ammo and mowing down zombies is what I signed up for. Great time thus far.

Yeah RE 6 is still a solid well made game. It just got crapped all over because i guess people were starting to really miss the old style by then. That's why RE7 switched back to the more classic feel. I hear RE 8 is going to be more action heavy so here we go again. The fans are going to either love it or hate it but probably nobody will be 100% satisfied.

It's just one of those series where very few of the games are legitimately bad... It's just that it fluctuates so radically. You're either suplexing zombies and punching boulders left and right, or you're stuck in a room because your gun only has ten bullets and you're afraid to come out.

RE7 is a funny case, because it starts as a rather intense survival horror game, but gradually becomes an action game as you move along.

I don't think I've ever seen the Resident Evil franchise summed up so perfectly, haha

Yeah, RE Origins is one of those painful Capcom releases. RE Remake's Japanese file size is 16GB, so technically Capcom could have offered it as it's own singular retail release rather than coupled in a half physical, half digital release with RE0. And yet, oddly enough, the North American file size is 17GB.

I'm not sure why or how the file size increased from region to region? Both versions of the release support the same language options. Whatever the case, since the NA release is 17GB, Capcom couldn't put all of RE Remake on the cartridge, so Capcom opted to put RE0 on the cartridge instead.

Oh well, at least all of RE4 is on the cartridge for the RE Triple Pack.

Really hoping tomorrow's event brings us switch owners some more RE. I'm not expecting re8 but possibly 2 and 3 remake.

@NintendoByNature it'll be interesting to see what they bring. The Switch is about in the middle of its life cycle so it'd be a bad look for Capcom to snub it.

@Losermagnet exactly. While I don't know exact sales numbers, I'd bet the RE switch releases sold fairly well. I know I have them all except 0. I'd love the opportunity to play 2 and 3 since I never had the chance. Same with 7.

@NintendoByNature 2 and 3 are my personal favorites, whether we're talking originals or remakes (although I still haven't played resi 1 remake). While I personally dont think they'd put them on Switch (save for cloud versions), they are doing games like Monster Hunter Rise so there's a possibility I s'pose

@Losermagnet for sure. Hoping us switch owners get some goodies tomorrow. I've gone ahead and grabbed some eshop credit in anticipation of the slim chance of anything shadow dropped.

I assume Switch owners won't be getting news of anything since it's a Playstation digital event. However, a Revelations 3 multiplatform announcement (including for Switch) from Capcom after the Playstation Showcase ends would be nice.

@Magician yea I'd take it. Loved revelations 1 and 2. While it IS a ps event. They did say its not just Re8 and since most of the other re games are already on ps(I believe but don't quote me on it), what news could be solely for ps at that point? That's why I'm holding out a little hope a switch gets something, even if its after that livestream like you said.

Just watched the live stream. Re8 looks great, too bad I won't be playing it for the foreseeable future. Stinks they really seem to be doing too much with the 25th anniversary though.

Don't know why people were expecting explicit information on other platforms when it was being livestreamed specifically from PlayStation's channel and not Xbox's to my knowledge

I really need to get a PS5 soon. That Maiden demo gives me gothic horror vibes.

Started getting an itch to play Resident Evil Revelations again. It was my first RE game and I love it to death. The Switch version specifically offers Gyro aiming and reloading with gestures using split joycon, which may sound gimmicky but it's really fun and immersive. Nowhere else can you get an experience like that, save perhaps VR.

So this got me on an RE kick, decided to make room for Revelations 2 again on my main SD, despite being 24GB. I never beat it and want easy access. And I fired up Resident Evil 5 again. That game plays fantastic on Switch. On the TV with pro controller using Gyro it feels incredible- I love the laser sight.

I'm really not interested in RE games without Gyro aiming. So RE4 just doesn't appeal to me. I tried it and died over and over in the first 15 minutes. It's super difficult and no gyro makes it even harder. And the RE Remake and RE0 remake have load times too long on Switch. You're constantly entering new rooms and stuff so it becomes aggravating when load times aren't snappy. That's one of the few games where I feel long loads actually kills the experience.

So RE5, RE6, RE Rev and RE Rev 2 are the only ones I'm interested in. Not sure about RE6 though. Haven't heard good things. And I think having 3 other RE games is enough anyways.

You might like 6, it's more bombastic action based and not exactly what one would expect out of the franchise, but it's not a bad game. Specially if you have a second player to keep you company.

And it does have gyro aiming. But yes I'd wait for a sale (which is not a matter of if, but when).

(You can also try the demo to test how different it feels compared to 5, though I think the demo doesn't have gyro if I remember correctly)

This does remind me that I should probably play the final level of 5. I kinda stopped with the intention of going through the other levels again and get all the emblems. But that kinda made me I lose interest.

@Eel
I already bought it, but it's archived and stored on my backup SD. Was debating re-downloading to main SD. But it doesn't make sense really to have 4 different RE games on the main SD. There just isn't room for that. Try to stick to a "one entry per series" rule, picking the best game of a given series for the main SD or, if there are multiple games in a storyline, the current one I'm playing.

Exception being the two Ori games (gotta have both of those), and Resident Evil. Gotta have RE Rev2 because the RAID mode is so good, and unlike most other games, STEAM is not a viable alternative because that version's gyro messes up where it switches to keyboard controls when gyro is activated (could use Steam controller but nah, not for that game). Some older games do that. So Switch is the only viable platform to play it with Gyro. Same for RE5 and RE6 iirc. Because I know I tried adding gyro to RE4 in Steam and ran into some kind of problems. Anything from the PS3 gen or early PS4 gen is a toss up as to whether gyro can be set up properly.

I'll probably be playing solo, but then again, I did play through Revelations on 3DS online with my brother all the way through in RAID mode after completing the game. Maybe it would be a good online co-op game? But so is RE5, right?

Word round the campfire is that the rumored Switch-exclusive Resident Evil has been quietly cancelled.
