I'm not trying to complain here, I'm just asking a question. I've been looking into potentially getting another Switch 1 and never connecting it to the internet. I've heard that the newer unopened Switches have updates on them. I think I remember some people on this site were saying they bought a Switch 1 in 2025. Do you remember what update version number it had at the start?

My top 5 favorite games:
1: Pokémon Violet
2: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
3: Animal Crossing New Horizons
4: Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope
5: The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
So I can have a game console for physical games only without any updates or internet needed, and no update prompts either. 😃

@Nep-Nep-Freak I remembered something. When the Wii was around, there were Wii games that did require the console to update to a newer version. I remember that New Super Mario Bros. Wii was one of those games, though I can't remember if it required internet or if the update pack was in the game disc itself. The same thing might apply to Switch games, but I could be wrong on that.
You are certainly right on the newer Switch consoles having newer updates. I don't remember specifically what version it was when I got a Mario edition Switch OLED (it was in 2023), but I do remember it being a newer version. Plus, I would think that the unopened Switch consoles with the original system version have gotten really rare (and possibly even more expensive) these days... but there is an airplane mode you can turn on, which disables all wireless connectivity.

AKA MarioVillager92. Ask if you want to be Switch friends with me, but I want to get to know you first. Thanks! ❤️
@D-Star92, I've watched YouTube videos about how to play Switch completely offline that show that Switch 1 physical copies that require later hardware updates have the necessary hardware updates on the cartridge, and you can download those hardware updates from the cartridge without an internet connection (which is actually pretty cool, honestly), so the Wii discs that required a hardware update probably had the same thing.
