Anyone else in the US/NA think it's bullc*** that we didn't get the B1G1F subscription offer?

@Spider-Kev I don't know what "B1G1F" is. If EU has gotten a sale that NA doesn't have, 99% of the time EU and NA get he same sales, they are just staggered. Like EU gets a particular sale this week, and in the next week or so, it comes to NA. So, I would just keep an eye out.

NES Tetris is coming to NSO on December 12th.

Today's NSO release is a shadow drop of DK Land 3.

@Grumblevolcano Lets go! The first two are quite good so I am excited to play this one as well.

The prophesies were true.

Maybe there will be prophesies about DK64 and Diddy Kong Racing?

@Novamii I will believe in this prophecy until it happens. It will get so loud it will be inevitable

I think the strategy may be that each week has both NSO and NSO Expansion Pack content:

  • Last week had DK Land 2 (base NSO) and Mega Drive/Genesis batch (Expansion Pack)
  • This week so far has DK Land 3 (base NSO)

So I think the rest of December will go something like:

  • Rest of this week - DK King of Swing (Expansion Pack)
  • Next week - DK64 (Expansion Pack) and NES Tetris (base NSO)
  • The following week - DK94 (base NSO) and Conker's Bad Fur Day (M rated Expansion Pack)

I just realised that Donkey Kong Land marked pretty much the last game I had purchased on Virtual Console over the Wii, 3DS and Wii U to appear on Nintendo Switch Online. What's interesting are the gaps that are left

On the Wii VC I did get Alex Kidd in Miracle World which obviously isn't on NSO. Although I do have the remake so that kinda serves the same purpose. Also I did get Duck Hunt on the Wii U VC which hasn't appeared on NSO. Really, I think both it and Mario Paint probably should come to NSO

Then there are the Pokemon games. I forget which ones I picked up on 3DS but I definitely got at least Red I think? Either way, obviously not on NSO and still a huge gap in that library. I still think it should happen

The real interesting one but is Metroid Prime Trilogy. Which I got on the Wii U VC given it seemed like a fairly decent deal at the time compared to tracking down the disc. Obviously Switch has Prime Remastered but.... no 2 and 3.... and certainly not via NSO

But everything else and some, all on NSO now

I've been playing Solar Jetman on the NES app. Still a great game far ahead of its time - rough edges and tough sections (especially early on) notwithstanding.

I always remember playing it as a child it felt both uber NES and at the same time like it had come from somewhere else (you can very much see the finger prints of developers who'd worked on the Spectrum and other micro-computers). Playing on the NSO dramatically improves the experience of the game in a real meaningful way because it originally relied heavily on holding the select button to use the boosters (and secondary weapons). I've remapped the buttons so ZL is "select" and it feels really natural.

It's a shame that Rare never made a sequel - it would have been absolutely ripe for more exploration in lots of ways. Of course it's also slightly shocking to me that no indie developer has taken it upon themselves to make a spiritual sequel. It might as well have "turn me into a rougelike or a metroidvania " as the sub-title. I suppose the game just isn't well remembered enough to have a specific homage.

Starting to look like Nintendo's fast pacing of NSO releases may be over. As NES Tetris is already confirmed for December 12th, it may be the only release this week.

@Grumblevolcano I’d say we’re getting at least one more drop this month after Tetris (probably for N64), but probably not this week at this point.

@PikminMarioKirby The comments section for the most recent Game Awards article reminded me that because of time zones, NES Tetris is the NSO drop that happens during the Game Awards. But yeah, it does look like there's still chance for NSO presence next week.

Tetris came now rather than in 24 hours:

Not just the NES version but also Tetris DX for GBC.

If it is not stuck in some ownership confusion, which I expect it is, I think Bubba + Sticks will get a release on Sega Mega Drive Online. It is just the kind of game nobody remembers or asked for that they would love to give! If it was a Snes game, I think Nintendo would probably have secured it by now!
